    I've noticed that it takes substantially more time to tear down a gate in BC than in vanilla, which is interesting! At least, if you have a battering ram. Now, if you bring with you a unit of catapults to rush the walls of an undefended town, chances are, you won't get in. The minute amount of damage that catapults can inflict against these gates with ten times multiplied hitpoints will likely get you to about 30% damage on a single BC gate with the limited ammunition that they carry.

    I'd just like to suggest that such weapons that you must invest a good deal of money on siege engineering buildings to acquire be given an edge over standard siege equipment. Catapults need either much more ammunition or a damage boost vs. buildings. The fact that even at point blank range these siege engines are liable to miss as well as their cost and campaign map speed is balance enough against the free (except in time) battering ram and wall-climbing devices.

    Sector is talking right, it happened to me alot, and i stopped building artilleries for that reason, u should look forward solving this

    just use siege towers, ladders and rams...its also harder to take down the gate with catapults as above aim for walls i dont have a problem with it.

    i don't think the seige engines are that bad. in vanilla you could have the wall coming down in no time. i think the bc team wanted to make seiges a lil more real as in not being able to bring the wall down in like 5 minutes. but like everyone else has said, ladders and towers.....and rams work great as long as you get it to the gate without it burning to bits....just grab you some cheap infantry and let me work the ram.

    Also remember that in reality the gate was a small tunnel barred by the door (with firing slits and hot oil vents on the inside); the trajectory of a Trebuchet (not to mention accuracy) makes it rather impossible to use it as an anti-gate weapon.

    Gracious! You're right, attack the walls. Stonethrowers do twice as much damage to them and they are a much larger target. Thanks for the advice.

    I think the Gate/siege battles are fine,I just wish the AL goes a round the other gates.
