    Default The Pontic Campaign

Hello, here is my new AAR for my Pontic campaign.

Quitus had gathered many legions for this campaign. 10th, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 9th legions.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The tenth legion had just came from a recent victory in Jerusalem revolt a year before and was finally back to full strength after some new recruits. It had a veteran legate and was known for getting the job done in the Guallic wars and the Britain invasion.

The third legion was a little shaky, all new recruits with barely 2 weeks ready to fight. A new, promising commander was their leader though, with a sense of being ready to fight. The 1st legion was mainly old men, half were veterans but others were just 40 year olds that had enlisted 10 years before.

They were lead, oddly enough by a 16 year old who most the men considered a "mere boy". The 5th had recently had a victory against the Parthians 2 years ago, the legion that blocked the Parthians from hitting the backside of the tenth. They were famed for killing the 5 cohorts of elephants in an army without losing a man in the skirmish.

There commander was the newly appointed legate after their former leader died of old age. The 8th legion had yet to prove itself, was raised the first time personally by the govenor of Halicarnassos 6 years before, it had no action. The legate was the govenor, who had wanted to campaign. The ninth legion was a seasoned legion that had much expierience with some local rebellions.

Only losing 40 men though, it was still in top shape and ready to campaign. This was the legion that the Western commander would rely heavily on.

    Chapter 1- The Gameplan

    Chapter 1 characters:
    - Western General Flavius Cornelius

    - Eastern General Constantius Domitius

    - Calvary and Recoinassance Commander Flavius Julianus

    - Consul Quintus Julius IV

    - Commander of Middle legions Titus Bonanius

Onto the story... Get your popcorn

    - My plan is to make a flanking attack onto the side.

    - What? Have you been dead this whole time ive been talking? I said that you are protecting our flanks.

*all of the legates suddenly wake up after the consul's angy statement*

    - dont you guys love these discussions? It gives a place to blab about how im so important. It also serves my ego well.

    - my report is that they have 28 armies guarding Pontus. Only around 14 are guarding the boarder.

    - My fifth and first legions will strike first. We will have the middle and we can split their forces up.

    - then i will strike with my tenth and eighth legions. We will have the 8th (the legion on the far east) delay any Pontic reinforcemnts, while the tenth will close up the escapes of the Pontic armies in the valley.

    - sorry generals, wasnt listening. Can you tell me whether them Pontic women like spiked up hair, or do they like the hardness of battle helmets?

    - get a life. We fight long wars and all you do is blab about how good you are and how much more important you are.

    -zzzzzzzzzzz

    - I swear he snores louder that great Jupiter himself!!!!

well, i want to have a little humor with it
sorry i dont have screens for this chapter, i just now got fraps

    Chapter 2
The men of the 5th legion lined up, double line formation was quickluy being adopted to "destroy or lose" to the Pontics.

The last battle was 20 years before when 2 of their armies rushed the west side of Asia Minor. A quick peace was installed after that though. This time it was the mighty Romans that were going to invade. The first attack was made by the fifth legion, they lined only around 8 feet away from where the armies of Pontus were, and unleashed their javelins.

This angered the Pontics, so they charged headlong into the Romans. With heavy amounts of calvary going at the flanks, the middle commander deployed his back side cohorts into both groups of calvary.

Then the 3 middle cohorts were coming into action. 1 stayed in reserve, while 2 of them went around the flanks with the calvary. As soon as they charged, the men of Pontus fled to the mountains, only to be blocked by the tenth legion. Now, 3 legions were trapping 5 Pontic armies.
