    Default Editing HAs

I tried editing the export_descr_unit to make Parthian horse archers have armour piercing arrows, by putting "ap" in the "stat_pri_attr" category, but it seems to have had no effect on their stats in custom battles. I then changed their attack rating to see if that changed, but no dice again.

    Anyone know why this is?

I'm editing them because as Rome I faced a HA Parthian army and wiped the floor with it...I figured changing their stats might make up for the total lack of tactical acumen from the AI.

The ap means that only half of the enemy`s armour is counted with each hit iirc. It doesn`t do anything towards the owner`s own stats so you won`t see anything changed in the unit`s panel in this regard. But I think that a note of effective against armour or somethig like that might appear along with the can sap, can form cantabrian circle and so one.

I then changed their attack rating to see if that changed, but no dice again.
They didn`t seem better or they didn`t display the new stats in the ui card when you right clicked them? If it`s the latter it means you`ve edited the wrong unit.

the ap doesn't affect shield, so it's rather unrealistic and useless IMHO. In fact there are much more bows/arrows capable of pentrating wooden shields rather than those capable of piercing metal armours.

If you change the attack and defensive values of units, or cost etc you should see these changes when you right click on the units details. Nevertheless, when you put ap in the primary attribute this will not be shown on the units details, however it will take effect in battle. You will definitely notice a difference to that units abilities when attacking heavily armoured units.
