    Default Citadels and Huge Cities?

Hello everyone, I had a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I realize that only your capital can become a huge city, but what about citadels? When I played England, Nottingham made it to a Citadel, but no other castles did. Now during my HRE campaign, I can't get a single citadel. I have 2 fortresses with a barracks, a general in one, a governor in the other, and they both have over 18000 population. I can't seem to figure out any of the other requirements if there even are any.

    Any advice?

there are only two starting towns that get the metropolis resource, needed for growing up to huge city / citadel per faction

one a castle, one a city.

and offcourse any of those owned by your neightbours (go get them tiger =P )

You can see which settlements have the "metropolis resource" by looking at the descr_regions file in:

    "Medieval II Total War\DLV_ext\data\world\maps\base"

Thats usually something I like to check at the start of a campaign for planning.

Looks like with the HRE you can build Frankfurt and Hohenstauffen up to full size.

You can also check how far you can upgrade your settlement (city or castle) in the building browser. Just go to the 'Walls' or 'Castle Walls' option and see whether you can build Huge Stone Walls or the Citadel. If you can't, the upgrade simply won't be there (make sure you have a family member in the settlement).
