Default Allowing castles to change their tax rates?

I could have sworn I had stumbled across a means of "unlocking" the castle tax from being held permanently at "normal," but for the life of me I cannot remember how to do it or discover a thread that tells me how. Any insight, fellow TWCers? I'd love to be able to let castles change their taxation like cities.

I have never noticed anything that I thought would allow you to do that. I always assumed it was tied to the castle name like other things are tied to hinterland and temple.

Hmm... that is quite worrying. In that case, how would you go about getting castle defenses (when an enemy sieges he has to fight through two rings of walls, etc.) in a city?

Unless you are the magician that figures out restructuring a city then I have no idea.

But I did have a thought on the castle taxes. I recently read a post where someone claimed to have added another core building to the castle tree, so there are 6 levels of city and castle both. I never verified it but I do remember seeing it.

Maybe you should try to remove the current castle tree and make a new tree and rename it core_building2 or something instead of core_castle_building, and then structure it the same way as the current castle tree.

Well my main goal was to leave castles as the only core building and then have everything else built in them (like Rome, really, except with castles rather than cities), but without a sliding tax bracket for castles, I may just have to make everything a city...
