    Default Norway, teutonic

    I have copied and pasted norway into the list of playable factions for the teutonic campaign, but I cannot recruit any new units, or build churches. How Do I Fix this?

    export_descr_units.txt (EDU) and export_descr_buildings.txt (EDB) take care of ownerships.

    export_descr_units.txt (EDU) should be fine, but you will need to add all the units into the export_descr_buildings.txt (EDB), I had to do it for my Teutonic mod, to make Norway playable , it was a total ballache LOL

    LOL, I've added [norway, ] to the brackets with the faction requirements, in export_descr_buildings.txt, but the units still don't appear in the campaign, or the building descriptions.

    The units are avaliable for norway in export_descr_units, but they still don't appear! Help!

    That because you shall make them recruit able in all the buildings yourself, take the wooden wall this is what it says before you edit it.

    I put:

    for most of them, does that matter?

    Funny, I wrote a comment myself about problems with Norway not long ago, been trying to get the faction up to speed, I've edited the appropriate buildings file (and I admit this makes my own post redundant, but anyway) the units, especially the "generic ones" like spear militia and crossbow militia still don't show up as recruitable.

    I know the data has been inputted correctly since the game doesn't crash or CTD or anything. Peasants have managed to show up, and I also added in the missing buildings as well. Still there is a significant number of units that I can't recruit, even with "norway," added in at the right spots. I'm not sure what has gone wrong or how to fix it. I'm still dabbling with the text files, in reality I'm just trying to make things work properly. In addition I also want to change norway's province color to blue like it is in the preview screen. Any help would be appreciated.

    Just a further note, there appears to be no reason or indication for why some units show up and why others don't. For example Viking Raiders show up as recruitable until I get to Citadel level even though norway has been added into the recruit pool at every level. My city-wall lineup only allows for Town Militia recruitment, even though I've added in numerous other units in the exact same way but to no effect, it's a real puzzle.

    Yeah the --io.file_first thing is in there, and working since my Mongol Campaign is good to go with proper units and everything. Adding in Dismounted Light and Heavy Lancers turned out to be child's play compared to the Norway situation. In any event it seems like my problem isn't well known, since from what I've been reading few people, if any, have complained about this specific issue, in which the text file is right but the units remain unavailable.

    It's frustrating if for no other reason then it's so difficult to know just exactly what has gone wrong. I posted something over at the org so maybe they'll have an answer as well. We'll see what happens.

    I suppose that could be useful, though shouldn't the game simply not work had I made a mistake in the text files? I'm already finding my experiences with the Mongols to be interesting, no one seems to want to fight me, so that makes for a quiet early going. Is it possible to send files over the forum? Never tried that before.

    Well at the least we're pretty much in the exact same boat on that front. At any rate I've still found nothing wrong that would indicate why Norway is afflicted as it is, and I've posted threads elsewhere on other forums to see if I might find a solution. Most people just make the first_file batch suggestion which seems to solve the issue for most people, just doesn't help me any!

    At any rate I've more or less given up on the Norway-Teutonic faction. No one anywhere has any advice, which I find to be incredible given the amount of modding going on around here. Perhaps this faction is the black sheep of the Total War franchise? Anyway it's no big deal, the modifications I DID make have turned Norway into a much more aggressive and formidable faction so that IS an improvement despite their normal passive nature. Hopefully at some future date this mystery will be solved.
