Default 1.3 Patch – Game location

I’m on my 289th reinstall. The difference is I changed the default Folder (and drive).

I gather from reading here and from my newest reinstall experience that the 1.3 patch is a problem if you’ve installed the game somewhere other than 'C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War'.

Other than giving up and reinstalling (again) to the above folder…

One answer put out in this forum seems to be to edit the Registry and change the “installfolder’. You find the RTW install and change the path.

    Is that correct?

Anyway, this seems be saying that when you install RTW 1.0 it edits the Registry and leaves the 'C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War' there. I’m slightly familiar with the Registry, but not with the Install Folder. I didn’t know that program installs did this.

You are probably right about the registry keys but I haven't looked. All I know for sure the only way people know how to write installers is to their idea of a default location. When they write the installer for their patch/update, they revert to the same location no matter where we install our software. That's why I quit fighting with them and just use their default.

If you can modify the registry and get it to work, my hat's off to you. Good luck in this.

I lost count of my reinstalls when I ran out of fingers and toes.
