The greeks have the money, but in the wise words of Al Pacino, you have to get the money then the power, then the uhh in this case the military, which the greeks lack.

No, the brutii are easier. You take over greek cities til you have unlimited income, then you bribe the rest, then you have all the greek peninsula and can bribe the rest of the world with the infinite money you are getting.![]()
I find the Egyptians the easiest due to their crazy income rate and powerful units. When I play as the Egyptians I have to bribe armies and cities just to keep my denarii from rising above 50k!
Greeks are easy once you have entire Greece, money flows in and you can pump out legions of armoured hoplites. Then just hire cretans and fight all your battles in a corner and you have a easy yet terribly boring campaign.![]()

yes, it's easy. because the battle are easy and of course it takes any kind of feeling well that you won a hard battle.
I would say that they are easy, but not the easiest.
Egypt right? All-round faction, money making basis, good expansion posibilities. Probably the best faction to begin with if you want to ease into the game.

It depends on the difficulty and your skill really. Yes the Greeks have the money, but they are spread out so it makes it challenging to move reinforcments to a besieged city quick enough. I tries vh/vh once, and Scipii besieged Syracuse. I had been skirmishing with Carthaginian smaller forces, so my army their was not full-strength. I tried to send help from Sparta, but Scipii had attacked and destroyed my forces before they were even half way. I got pissed off, and sent the reinforcing army against the city, in a suicide attack. Of course, I ended up getting spanked. I never played vh again.
Yes, the spread of the cities is a bit of a problem. Personally though, I wouldn't really mind losing a few cities if it means that I can to focus myself elsewhere and can get a good foothold on some part of mainland.
A lot of people also advice to give up on Syracuse and Turkey so that you can first conquer the Greek mainland.
I never do that though, my turf is my turf!

the greeks are hard because they have ONLY phalanx units, with medium-quality archers and very poor cavalry
this makes the classic hammer-and-anvil approach very very hard unless you are using your general as the hammer
macedon, if you get it unlocked, is much easier i think

All I ever do in the campaign is either corner camp, or shoot the enemy to death , pin them with phalanx and rip them apart with the generals. Since the generals are the best cavalry you have, they get all the experience and grow quickly.

If you have armoured hoplites its easy to win battles because after the enemy loses so many guys against em they just flee, then you can run them down with ur cav... also an easy way to defend cities is to leave the city with ur gen hire some cretan archers, then when you are besieged its a bit easier to defend... Pontus is always a pain their chariots are so rediculous. I am playing as Greece now and have the greek peninsula, macedon and rome fought each other and wore each other down then i easily took the peninsula. I've expanded into asia minor but pontus and egypt keep attacking me. Those damn chariots are such a pain!

Greeks are by far, not the easiest faction to play with, as you will be attacked constantly by Scipii, Brutii, and Macedonians (at least on VH/VH).
Of course, if you manage to hold these off, then it will pay off in the end, point in case, my VH/VH campaign as Greece. After many sieges and battles, I managed to conquer the non-stop waves of Scipii, and the more docile Carthaginians that also inhabited Sicilia. Along with this, I found that the Macedonians, though they have longer pikes, fail in comparison to the Greek Militia Cavalry and Hoplites, giving me full control of the middle and southern portion of the Greek Peninsula (with the occasional full stack from the Brutii of course). This combined has not only increased my trade retinue, but the natural formations of the territories make it easy to defend.
Basically, Greece is pretty hard to play at first due to the opposition you face being a split empire, but if you can overcome these beginning opposition you'll end up better off in the long run.
