Default 'your faction has been conquered' - no it hasn't!

    Hi There,

I wonder if anyone can help? I was happily playing as England, about 100 years into my campaign. I held 7 or 8 territories, which were all happy and well-garrisoned. I had a strong field army and plenty of strat units. I had allies and one enemy - Spain - which kept landing armies for me to carve up. Suddenly I get a message: 'your faction has been conquered: victory conditions not met - failed'. I looked at the mini map and all my regions had turned grey. Then a 'defeat' video starting to play and I was returned to the main menu. What happened??!!

If anyone can explain this I'd be really grateful! Thanks in advance for replies!

P.S. Although I'd modded victory conditions for all factions, no one was anywhere near meeting those conditions, so how could I lose? And none of my cities had been taken, so how come the game thought my faction had been conquered?

Thanks J@mes - I'll check the forum for any hints. Meanwhile, I'll also go back to my last saved game and see what happens. Thanks again!

Did by chance your king and heir die during the same turn? Or was that what you meant J@mes?

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

Yes i should have made it more clear. This did happen to me and i posted about it along time ago i think the Turks where just unlucky.

but the best for this is testing keep reloading that save file and see if it keeps happening.

    Hi There,

Many thanks for replies. OK, I loaded the last save game and reconstructed what happened. In my state of shock I forgot to mention that this weird event happened on an autocalc battle (it's rare I autocalc but wanted to finish a turn quickly before having to go out). Therefore, I can only guess that my faction leader and heir both died on the same turn, one of old age and the other in the autocalc battle.

I now realise this is my fault for recruiting generals and neglecting to keep my family tree healthy (and alive). Lesson learned.

Thanks again for replies. I've continued the campaign from the last save game and so far so good!
