    thanks

...the existing units are still there so i thought the spearmen covered that category. i cant think of any specialised units that arent covered ~ if you know any please let me know as i am not a very good historian.

You know what I have been thinking about doing a mythology mod - Its so weird that this has not been done yet - with sultry but strong Amazonians(I am working on a model of), minatouars, skeletons and the whole nine???

Quetz - I remember us talking about getting into modeling - here is a gold mine to get you started - make sure you download the profs video tutorials - huge help plus much of the other stuff on wiki - you will be up to speed in a matter of weeks with the stuff out there - follow the link

thanks solo, my problem is i only got gmax not 3dsmax, i suppose that if i want to advance into modelling then i will just have to pay for 3dsmax.

i think a lot can be done with mythology, up until now people have concentrated on historical accuracy, but that is done now, so its time to make some fun mods i reckon.

for now i am willing to help with any skinning and text files for your projects, add units etc. i am just leaning mapping too. i have loads of resources for shields and armour and i can paint faces from photos etc onto skins. perhaps you could do moedels with basic skins and i’ll tart them up?

    just some ideas.

btw there is a centaur skin and model in the skins section of downloads i think, i got it somewhere ~ i’ll upload it as a zip file attachement here tommorow.

Well - maybe we can work on doing a Mythology Total War. Make a race of Minotaurs and make their settlements look like laborinths with palaces in the middle - I dont know just throwing stuff out there - maybe pm me if your interested.

‘mythology total war’ would be great.

settlements would be nice but they take a lot of work, i would aim for a smaller mod [units mainly] first then keep adding?

that is an area i would really like to use my editing skills, palaces with lakes canals gardens etc. i done some labyrinths for age of empires around 10 years ago, but its ai couldnt get past the first part lols.

i got a few days off work next week so i’ll see whats involved in such undertakings. i got the wall editor and all the other tools ~ so i best find out how to use them eh.

yeah, my copy of RTW BI worked just fine until i put these units in, now i start it up and it gets about as far as the splash screen with all the legal what not, it stays at that screen for oh 2 seconds and then CTD's for an unknown reason, i cant figure it out, i backed everything up replaced it and it worked fine again, i then put these units in once again, being extra careful this time and yet again it crashes, help?

you should have got an error message? make sure you have the show err [error] command in your shortcut properties, this will then tell you the problem.

    “C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe” -show_err

try just copying the skins and models to their correct files

then adding them in by hand [as you would normally add a unit].

no i didnt know, i also thought that the goths came from denmark too.

anyways, the units can be given to any faction, but saxons would do as he was working for them.

Actually he went to Denmark and worked for the Danes... But I'm not so good at Saxon history... I just know about the Saxon invasion of Britannia and... That they were from Germany... But I think I've read that there were some of them who came from Denmark... But the people he helped were the Danes... And by the way the southern part of Sweden is called Götaland (Roughly translated Gothenland) and there was a people who lived north of Beowulf and the Goths... the... I don't know what to translate it to... Swedes? Anyway they are called Svear in Swedish... And that part of my country (the middle part) is called Svealand. The northern part is just called Norrland (Northland) but the other two have interesting names from the time of Beowulf. *edit* hehe and the "Huscarls" are the "Huskarlarna" (Uuh... Housemen, or something like that) *edit*

i tried what you suggested yet the problem repeats, and still nothing comes up as far as errors are concerned, leading me to believe that something is missing rather then wrong, do i need to actually add this too a mod or can it stand alone as a unit add-on?

these are just some new saxons to replace the vanilla ones, it is not a mod. add them ass you would any new units to the game.
