    Default Killing elephants,

Or at the very least causing them to run amok. I'm not sure why so many online players are intimidated by elephants, even though my infantry forces have on several occasions become elephant toe jam.
They are all in all delicate units and easy to remove from play in one form or another.
My best success with killing them is using javelin throwing cavalry units.

If you’re good and lucky, lucky helps (for a unit of elephants be nasty beasts), 2 units of javelin cavalry can kill a unit of elephants pretty quick, under proper circumstances of course. Best to try to catch them without cavalry support, using your melee cavalry units to detain the “elephants” supporting melee cavalry units, while your javelin cavalry kills the elephants works well. Try not to get into to situations where your javelin cavalry can get spooked and rout, elephants are scary enough. If you can get the elephant units chasing your javelin cavalry, don’t let them catch you, but this is also the best way to kill them, by drawing them away from any supporting units if your javelin cavalry keeps pressure on them they’ll die quickly.

Once they’re chasing you, you have to continue to hit them with your javelins, even when they rout continue the pressure, kill them completely.

A lucky bombard, trebuchet, or catapult shot always is nice, anything with fire works good against elephants .You can protect your infantry forces effectively with peasant archers and fire arrows (need a bunch of um though).

Nothing prettier then a pack o’ dead pachyderms.

Hope to see you in the game.

They'll have to be decent-morale javelin cavalry to avoid panicking under gunpowder fire, won't they?

The galleys passed upon the sea, the soldiers laid down their arms, cities were rebuilt and peace was everywhere welcomed. The supine giant was unconscious, but not dead. Slowly he began to raise himself upon his elbows."

I have good success with both standard desert cavalry (eygptians) and polish nobles (this is against human players in multi-player).
Haven't needed to enhance them in anyway. But yeah, it's a tricky thing to do, not easy by any means, elephants are terrifing.

A nice rear attack with couple of expirienced heavy cavalry units will do the trick, especialy if you pinn the elephants with some spear units from the front first. Rear atack will cause severe morale pennalty to elephants and may cause them to run amok. I used this tactic with 3 Latinikon units ( expirience 9 ) and they did quite well.

Killed some more elephants, this time it was rather sad. I was expecting 2 units of elephants, so I brought 4 jav cav. Well my opponent only brought one unit of elephants... needless to say and the photos will show, they didn't live long.
An elephant is not a stand alone unit, It must be protected till the melee begins, Thats when it stands alone and only then.

Poor eles they've suffered so much abuse because of our human race...

anyway here's snapshot of my spearmen handling steaming mad eles. Notice they go into loose formation to minimize casualties. Use spear or pike if you got it, but if you don't you better run and if you can't run go loose form.

Oh how I do love a good cannon or six, and yes I think 6 cannons would do the trick on the elephants. But 6 cannons can be expensive and the man power reduction in your forces (not much to a cannon crew) could leave you vulnerable to the enemys infantry. Just a thought.

He doesn't... that's his multiplayer (gamespy id) everyone has it who plays online to make it easy to know who's who.

Yeah I usually don't identify units in screenshots....... But,

I told the guys, (it was a 4v4 .... and most of them are regulars, the guy playing the elephants wasn't.) I told um, and the reg's know...... "I'm an elephant killer", told him before we started , tryed to warn him......

I didn't realize how brutal it would turn out.....

Needless to say..... the "ID" is just to let people know......

    I am an elephant killer!
