    Default Ghorid Overpowered?

First, let me say how much I've enjoyed this mod. Really great stuff. Thanks to all who have clearly invested so much of their talents and time to make something for us all to enjoy.

I've started my campaign as the Ghorid on H/VH. I'll have to say, it's been a pretty easy go. I've expanded quickly to the east. Are the Ghorid overpowered? I also noticed the Raj to the SE hadn't expanded at all.

These issues may very well be under consideration for 1.1.

Thanks again. I look forward to BC's further development.

No, the other nations surrounding them are underpowered though.

Yes they are, its not in the way your thinking though.

I terms of stats the Ghorid's are actaully pretty fair, but in terms of cost its another matter, as some of their units offer just a tad to much bang for their buck.

The BC team has stated that they will fix the wacky units costs in 1.1

I guess you can say they are overpowered until some decent heavy cavalry charge your infantry. They are just a fanatic, uber offensive force.

Well they have a huge weakness in their lack of spears...however this is semi-negated by the lack of powerful early cavalry in the vicinity of their starting location. By the time they encounter Rajput cavalry or the nice Ghaznavid lancers, the Ghorids can overwhelm them with manpower (since India is very wealthy).

As KippyK touches on, the lack of spears is a disadvantage to Ghorid expansion westward, but a null and void weakness when expanding into cavalry-limited India. What changes will probably occur for the Chauhani Rajputs will help remedy that.

I think Fenix is right that the costs for some of their units is too low. We had the Ghorids being too weak in earlier versions, but the current editing for 1.1 will remedy that.

With the help of Kinniken, who has implemented a tool to generate unit costs via one-click based on a well-defined ruleset, we will get rid of the imbalances introduced by vague cost estimations.

After intensive discussion with Strelac and Kinniken, I have created a ruleset, that takes into account the most important aspects of recruiting and maintaing a unit, to calculate the recruitment, upkeep and upgrade costs for all units. The outcome is, that with the next patch unit costs might change significantly, reflecting the actual combat value of units far better than before.

Yep, in their home territory the lack of spears isnt very much of a disadvantage, because with all thos steep slopes their regular inf can defend against good cav.

I wouldn´t say the Ghorids are overpowered.
As long as you stick to their historical correct path eastwards, you wont get any problemes.
But wait for the (I dont quite know how they´re written =) ) Khwarezm Lancers. This is gettin funny as I´ve been taught in my own campaign...
My hint for you: Always look for spear-wielding mercs! Once you trampled India with your sick masses of fanatics, you will have the money to hire the auxilia you need.
    Have fun^^

I've been thinking about that... I've been trying to load up on spearmen, but perhaps I'll find that the westward turn will prove much more difficult than I thought.

Are you kidding me? The Solanki Rajputs win like every time in my games! The most overpowerd faction is probably the Ayyubids.

The only unit that I think is overpowered that the Ayyubids get is the dismounted Mameluk's, who at their lowest experience level are as powerful as a dismounted Templar knights at three gold chevrons.

For this you can be sure. Even if you attack the Shahdom early their general´s bodyguard will rip your poor men into pieces.
Take India first, it´s the best solution for most of the problems you can have in BC: Money, money, money.

I think he means in campaign success, and I would contribute this to their relatively large starting size as well as valuable settlements (Damascus, Antioch etc.) all within quick/easy reach.

Mamluk tabardareyah cost is 1160, while Dis Templar 960. the difference is 200 but tremplars have lock moral which makes Templer able to defeat Tapardareyyah, and that not fair at all in my opinion. If there a unit would be able to defeat Tabardareyah that would be Piekes or Sloaks [Janissary guards] not Templar.

Templars cost less, templars have unlimited morale, templars boost morlae, what more should they do?
Theyre not to win, but to make allies hold the line, fighting to the end, giving allies hope.

I would make the Knights hospital boost allies moral and make the Templars lower enemy moral myself.

That would go well with the "Templars attack and Hospitals defend" trend that most mods(including BC) have taken.

and NNNM their were very few military units that were as well trained or as wealthy as the Knights Templar, they should be tough as hell.
