    Default Computer Restarts

When i start a battle in Medieval II Total War the computer will restart after few seconds. I picked a smaller map which will need less resurces and it played few seconds longer. The game is really laggy for the few seconds its played even on the lowest settings. How ever when i press autodetect settings it gives me the "High" option which has better graphics and it runs the same way like i would put it on low.

Other games seem to run good without problems.
I dont know whats the problem here.

-Temps are fine. 40C CPU, 45C GPU
-Tried reseting ram and took a slower one out and still problem pressists.

What can i try to get that game going?

Have you updated the game to 1.2? They say a lot of the battle problems were solved in it.

How dirty is the inside of the case? Is the processor fan dusty? Are you using Vista?

Can you test your memory, I knowingly put in bad RAM in my computer and it only restarts the computer if I try to play certain movies. I see you took out memory, is your setup 2x256? Trying new memory in different slots or switch slots.

I have a similar problem with my computer restarting within two seconds or so of loading a battle. I get to the opening and see the troops on the field for maybe a second and then my computer restarts and I get the message that "A serious error has occurred."

I justp ut in a new video card, a Radeon HD 2400 Pro just to play this game. I've tried reinstalling MTW2 and updating all of my drivers and playing with game settings but it won't work for some reason.

Are you sure your rig can handle the new card without overheating? Are you sure your power supply is big enough? On some of ATI's cards, these are things in their card specs.

If you have an ATI card it is a known issue and you need to download the latest driver for your card as well as Microsoft .NET framework 3.5.

Dont assume your temps are correct and if there is dust, then clean it anyway. I really cant provide help unless you clean out the dirt since that will cause it to overheat when the game is played and cause it to restart.
