    Default Mongols in 5.5

    I've not played an extensive game of DLV since 5.1, so I'm kind of "out of it". Were the Mongols ever "fixed", or do they just basically mill around in the upper right hand portion of the map doing nothing still?

    As a Byzantine player I always hoped they would emerge in the middle east, rather than the Russian steppes (back when the Mongol horde was an event), in order to add a bit of spice to my campaign. It seems to me that their remote starting location, so far from anyone else was possibly a reason they never seemed to accomplish anything. Has there ever been any thought to giving them territory in the Middle East?

    Yes you can, but it is probably a way to easy faction as a player and Darviathar be happy that it takes so long for them to do anything cause once they are capable of recruiting armies, u will be overwhelmed by cheap elite units.

    I'd be happy to see *any* of their units show up at my gates as the Byzantine Empire. I force myself to "back off" the Turks after a while, in order to give them a chance to recover from early beatings. Adding another major faction into the area is just what I need.

    I would like to see them be less docile too, I regularly see the turks push all the way up into northern russia and conquer all that area while the monguls are wiped out because they never expanded beyond a few provinces. I had one game in 5.3 where the map was split into thirds by the french, danish and then a massive ai turk empire that controlled most of russia, greece the middle east and africa. Georgia sorta slows down the turks a little but they eventually just get so obscenely powerful and rich off the mid east that they roll over everyone.

    Well u can try their campaign out, they have to wait ages before they can finally recruit their pwnage armies, not to mention that the AI builds buildings in a random order.

    So, basically I should not expect them to be any more of a threat in the new patch than they ever were?

    I wouldnt know, right now I decided that DLV is just way to unstable for me, but I assume that they are still the same.

    In my game experience ( DLV 5.5 ) I can't play a single campaign without a CTD when I save my game...

    So after a week of conquer or simply a 2 days game, soon or later it's impossible to continue it :/

    Mongols are different since patch 5.4. They spawn in waves near Sarkel, Bagdad, Tbilisi

    Excellent! I really enjoy fighting a lot of different nations, rather than the same Turks and Hungarians.

    Do the Mongol hordes still spawn if they are controlled by the player, or is it turned off?
