    Default No Ireland militias?

I have been playing an Irish campaign for about 50 turns (w/ 5.5), and I've noticed that there are no militia units for the Irish cities. So far it was no big deal, but cash is getting tight, and my defences are adding up.

Anyone know if this was intentional, or just overlooked? Seems like it would be any easy thing to fix (just alter a "militia" parameter or whatnot :hmmm, but 'm not sure where to look...

    Any suggestions?

Well Kerns are the equivalent here. ( tribal conscripts basically. Better than peasants but not really meant to hold the line like spearmen.) The Irish call for different tactics, you need to use the Kerns like Velites or skirmishers.

The Irish roster is awesome once you get used to it. INMO they have the best light cav in the game. ( Extremely fast, cheap and handy with a sword). Their horse archers are incredible ( they give the Mongols a run for their money although I don't know how historical they are.)

I agree about the Irish roster, I am enjoying it a lot. It is REALLY unique, which makes it fun to adapt new tactics, especially fighting against more heavily armored enemies.

However, what I meant by the "no militia" question is that there are no units that act as free militia defense w/ different city walls (it seems like it should be raiders and kerns, since they are what can be built in city barracks).

Now that I reread my question, I noticed I didn't actually mention that part...

I did misunderstand you. My bad. I do love the roster though Ivanhoax is right , some of the units are not balanced right yet ( way overpowered). I haven't played them in a while and while I didn't notice any dodgy animations, that doesn't mean they aren't there.

I guess our Irish friends could use a little more love!

irish roster = lots of crap

badly set units... even there is a unit that instead of throwing a jav do the animation with an axe and then go to shield + hand in melee

in my EDU raiders and kerns are non militia fighters so they dont deserve a free upkeep... unless you want kerns to be a bit more modest?

I agree that raiders and kerns are not very militia-like, and it might make more sense if they were raised in a castle than in a city.

However, it seems that there should be some free upkeep militia troops available to Irish cities, even if it is just the stock town/spear/archer/crossbow variety. As it is now without any free upkeep units, it is much more expensive to garrison Irish cites than other factions.
