Quintus Marius Parthicus strides proudly into the Curia. Pleased at finally reaching the top of the Cursus Honorum, he sits down in the curule chair, and waits for the other senators to enter the Curia as well. As he waits, his mind is still in full swing thinking out strategies and tactics for the upcoming campaigns that he already forsees. It will be a hard road, he thinks....

ooc: Max, can you please post the save here when you are finished your proconsul work thanks.

Marcus Lucretius Falco calmly walks into the curia. He is amazed at the small number of senators at this early hour, he must be here however, because all debates are important in his position as Praetor.

"Salve, noble consul." Falco is surprised by the reverb of his voice. "What is to be done about the northern situation?"

Vitruvius walks in fidgeting uncomfortably in his new robes. The weight of his position rests heavily on him. He takes his seat waiting patiently for the new Senior Consul to begin to outline his plans for the term.

ooc: Falco, you came to my Domus, you ever gonna continue the conversation? Lol
ooc: Also I’m curious, I realize that Military Tribune is an unofficial position, but can someone explain what it is as it pertains to the game?

Tiberius walks in and is a bit disappointed.

"I congratulate you all and I wish you the very best during this consulate."

Tiberius walks to his seat, sits and wait to others to respond.

Servilius Metellus walks calmy, in a bit of a bore even, to the Senate House.

"Yes, yes; here I am." He said and took a seat close to the center of the Curia, were the unaligned were often placed.

"Has the session begun, Consul Parthicus? Can we begin with the motions?"

    Vitruvius clears throat

“Senators, If I may before we discuss the very large problems that Roma faces. All politics aside. I’d like to discuss a matter that we have overlooked and that is honoring Servius Labienus. I realize at present we are at a high state of tension and a triumph might not be realistic. While his bravery in defending Arretium from the Gauls and his successful conquest of Massilia is noteworthy. I believe he truly shone in his African campaign against Carthage. Therefore, I propose that we honor him with the Cognomina Africanus and of course if anyone has something they would like to add they may."

I am fully in support of crediting Servius Labienus with the "Africanus" cognomen. He truly deserves it. We don't want another situation like the late consul Brutus who took his own life as a result of Senatorial pressure and unawareness to his achievements. This time, we want all to turn out positively. I think that a cognomen would be perfect, and maybe a Grass Crown if the Senate agrees?

Meanwhile, I shall be heading up to Gaul to continue the campaign against them. As soon as I get there, I shall be posting a report of the situation, and my ideas for what to do next.

ooc: Whoever has the save, can I have it please?

Consul, if I may. All over Italia and the provinciae brigands and deserters are banding together to rob decent Roman traders and travellers, shouldn't something be done about that before we throw ourselves head over heels in a foreign war?

Consul, we dont need to recruit auxillia. I have recieved word from the Legates of various legions and half legions positioned throughout the countryside, one of the perks of being a veteran. They are, in a word, disillusioned. Lets give them something to do, let them clear out the countryside, then position them in places where they can be of use. After all an idle legion is wasted money.

Servius Labienus enters the curia accompanied by his twelve lictors.
They leave him at the door as he enters the sacred halls.
Third time consul at the age of 61.
That would not be frowned upon had he been consul at 42 as rightfully so.
But this was a different time and this was his third consecutive consulate.
The people of Rome loved their winner.

He sat in the curule chair alongside Consul Parthicus. Being the junior, Parthicus held the fasces.

I will issue orders to legates in cities near the brigands and rebels, and I will tell them to do their utmost to stop the villains from continuing their annoying work, and crush them with the might of Rome.

ooc: however, I need the save first.

    Senators of Rome.
We have been embroiled in war for as long as I care to remember.
I have shed the blood of thousands of warriors.
We have had conflict all around us.
I believe the consul should go north to secure a path to Massilia.
With that we could open a land route where our legions can march safely across the padus.

    "Senators, lend me your ears for I have some motions to suggest;

Firstly, I must agree with Vitrunius on the point of honoring Servius Labienus. I do believe also that the Grass Crown and the cognomen 'Africanus' are both suitable recognitions of his achievements.

Secondly, since we are at war with the Gauls already, I see no need not to expand towards the Po valley, driving the Gallic Hordes back from where they've came from. I believe that the signle most important matter now is the security of the Republic and nothing else matters when coming to that. So, I would ask all the factions in this Senate House to put aside the differences in their hearts and accept my motion to invade the Po valley and unify Massalia with the Republic's lands."

Vitruvius sees the junior consul walk in

"Servius Labienus earlier we were talking about your great accomplishments, most notably your victories in Africa. I proposed in light of this that you be granted the Honorary Cognomina Africanus, our esteemed Consul then added that you be given a Grass wreath as well. While I have no doubt that the entire Senate and the people feel this the right thing to do, we are a republic and as such I ask that you, ironically..."

    Vitruvius smiles

    "put it to a vote."

Yes Mettelus the Republic must come first, I support no war until our own lands are safe, I will Veto any attempt at a Gallic campaign, at the present time. Show me that you can keep our own lands safe esteemed consul and I may reconsider!

For Censor for this term I nominate Tiberius Octavius Ulpianus.

Proconsul, you need to decide on who your Quaestor will be this term with Proconsul Marcus Valerius.
