Cannot update M2TW.

I install M2TW. So far so good, installation goes ok.
I patch to 1.2
Then i try to patch to 1.3 and i get a "invalid or missing file (pack1)"

And i get this EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO UPDATE IT.

To make matters worse, now Patch 1.2 doesnt work as well. I get the same error: "invalid or missing file (voices3.dat)".

And it doesnt change no matter what.

Yes i do have Kingdoms, i tried to update from Kingdoms disk AND for downloaded patch.

First it was only the 1.3 that wasnt working (saying that data1.pack is invalid or missing)
Now the 1.2 patch continues with the same problem (voices3.dat is invalid or missing)

The SEGA sollution was done several times. Hasnt worked at all.

How clean are your DVDs?

Kingdom is perfectly clean, M2TW is ok too. Both are recently bought.

Besides i try to update from downloaded patches (not the Kingdoms disk-included patches) and it fails.

I had that same problem. Never was able to fix it. Reason why I gave up playing MTW 2. SOmeone told me to re buy the game.

Yes. Yes. Yes, i did all the well-known "uninstall-reinstall" solution multiple times. On different HDD, from different DVD-Drive, everything.

No. Windows XP Proffessional SP2.

The only things I know that can cause these problems are:
not a clean uninstall,
not a clean registry of sega, m2tw, kingdoms,
bad dvd(s),
bad dvd rom,
need to update all software, video, windows, audio, etc.,
modded it, even to unlock factions,
using a crack,
computer dying.

Well trying to install patches in the wrong order like the first post is probably your problem. If you uninstall the game, erase the Sega folder, install M2TW (discs only), does it play perfectly? Then if you install Kingdoms, does it work? Are you selecting the correct language? And since you tried a different DVD ROM and hard drive, then you have probably defective DVDs. But if you can show pics of your troubleshooting, it would help. I just helped someone who was using a crack that he wasted my time by not telling me, which was causing his issue. If your computer is slowing, the Kingdoms way of patching may take some time. Disable firewall and antivirus also.

Nevermind, problem solved.

Tho it took me a few hours on regedit.

Registry problems. Apparently always something remains.

I went through the entire regedit system. And I though I took out everything as well. But the problem stayed. Where did you go to get everything?

Nowhere, i just chased the word medieval through the entire registry. Found leftovers from Medieval Total War too, found attributes that shouldn't be there etc.

So unless god himself granted me my wish for a nice Teutonic campaign on kingdoms, i think i fixed it.

As long as my HDD wont blow up. Gah....i was *that* close to search for a torrent. I guess CA got lucky this time.
