Default Can someone please explain to me what the hell this is!?

    Okay

Everything has been going fine, did have a bad CTD issue but resolved it...somehow :S...but anyway.

Playing as Rome, about 20 turns in, when all of a sudden everytime I get attacked by enemy forces, even if they have way more troops than me, they all withdraw as soon as the battle starts, this happens EVERY time, regardless of faction, no. of men etc....:S No idea.

Secondly, on a naval battle, I had basically 90-odd so ships and the CPU attacks me with ELEVEN SHIPS...they effing win!!!! WTF!!!

Why do mods NEVER work smoothly for me?

That happens with all mods, and iirc in vanilla too, I've seen it once maybe twice in RTRPE, no more than anywhere else. Dam annoying though, especially when you spend time organising your army only to find the enemy on a hill far off to the right (or left), and they wait until you've walked over to them before they turn and run!!!!...

Equally annoying is the diplomacy offer,

    Accept or we attack!!

    Please don't attack!!
    Eh?..

Yup, RTR does seem to have some unusual stats for ships, I don't recruit much navy myself and tend to keep my ships in port unless I have to move armies long distances, even then I generally expect to lose my ships so don't worry about them..

Did vanilla work ''smoothly'' for you!!..

    Welcome to TWC btw..

Haha! Thanks for your reply Halie, but you mention you have had the enemy retreat from the get go about twice? Well It is happening every single time, like, probably been attacked about 20-odd times since 20th turn (No idea what turn I am on now) and EVERY time the enemy have retreated straight away, sorry I probably wasn't all that clear on that one, but yes it does seem very apparent that something is definitely wrong with my game. But that's no bloody surprise.

Ships I suppose isn't such a big deal, I don't really buld massive navies either but I did build that one, mostly after merging lots of fleets, and thought I would mention the instance since it's so damn unrealistic. I mean, eleven ships would be totally pwned by 90 odd surely.

And no, to be honest, vanilla RTW made me winge just as much lol....and I have changed PC about 3 times since buying the game when it came out, so it's not my current set up or anything.

    Bah.

Hmm, I guess it will happen more if your army out classes the AI force by a long way (experience, weapons/armour upgrades) , other than that I can't think why it happens often..Unless your men are just really ugly..

On ships, you would think so, but I've had big navies crushed by small ones in RTRPE.. I think the experience levels counts a lot more, seems to anyway..

I got this happening to me all the time in vanilla BI. Even if hey had more men or otherwise decent armies they ran. That`s because my army was made up of veterans with upgrades and even the ai would have led it to certain victory. The roman units in RTRPE have good stats in my opinion and the legionaries even more so.
One thing you can do is to slowly approach them and from one side and manouver them to get farther from the border line. I did this a number of times. They will still ran right before they realize you`re cutting them off, but it gives you the oportunity to use your cavalry and destroy some of their units. Btw, which battle difficulty are you playing on?

IIRC, AI navies get a boost in all the TW games. That's certainly been my experience. Also, I've discovered you don't really get much of a marginal boost after outnumbering the enemy navy more than 2 or 3 to 1.

I am playing on medium campaign difficulty with hard on battle. (The way I always do, for some reason).

As regards to the experience upgrades and/or veteren troops scaring the out of the enemy, I checked my stacks and garrisons and to be honest, my guys aren't really that pumped up on experience orbs, I mean, a fair few don't even have one cheveron or bronze sheild to their name so....I dunno about that one.

But yeah, basically are you guys saying that this is actually normal and to be expected? Or is it actually some sort of glitch that I am gonna have to stop ing about and just try and get along with?....lolz

My men are NOT ugly. They groom meticulously everyday and use Eco friendly cosmetic products each morning before battle, and, thanks to Gaius, are now entitled to free manicures and special gauntlet additions making the breaking of nails a few threats less
