Which Invasio Barbarorum sub-mod is the best in you opinion I really want to download one but I want to know which one is the most well made.
I was in the same dilemma recently, and then I decided to start off with the original IB, which is Ruina Romae.
When I'm through with that I'm gonna play Rio's IBFD, which focuses more on the European theatre (I understand it has a new map cutting off the Asian part). I also read it has a very aggressive AI, which may be a reason to avoid this mod in the beginning (if you took a long break from playing RTW, like me).
IJ is probably best if you want to restitute the Roman Empire, but since I'm not such a big fan of Rome, I'll likely skip on that one.
That brings up a good point:
Which mod is best for which aspect?
For instance, as a big fan of the Romano-British, which one gives them the most fun? I have only played the original mod so far, but get the impression that Rio's version ups the interaction in that area of the world.
Good point, from a Romano_British perspective, in IJ they are very limited as the time period is really too early for them. They will spawn if the romans lose all of their british cities. In the forthcoming IJV3.0 the romano brits are replaced, again because they are not really part of this period. This frees up a spot for another faction which has been taken by the Indian Guptas to give the Sassanids more enemies to deal with.
I suppose it depends on what period of history you like which is why we have offered 3 mods spanning from 355AD up to 460AD.
Cheers

"The Legions will not fail you, do not fail them." Roma Mod
I'm a big fan of the whole 410AD period and the beginning of the collapse of the Roman Empire thanks to the mass migrations of the Germanic and Gothic tribes. Here East and West Rome struggle to hold onto and regain vital lost territory which puts you right on the cusp of a huge historical change. IB Ruina Romae is therefore a challenging and exciting mod but it's really down to which period interests you.
I can't write for all the mods as I have only played IBFD and IJ but I understand that all are excellent mods and equally well-made in their own respective fields! Good luck in choosing!
which has the most unit/graphic changes? are there conceptual "romanization" policies? do they use ancillaries to identify legion names? can i find this info posted anywhere? the sites seem give very general answers.

Don't mean to sound like a smart arse here guck but if you personally want to know the something for yourself you either have to try it or do it yourself. Dl the mod switchers from the sub mods and give em a whirl and see what you think...If anything turns you off about the mod when or before DL it just rid it and move on to trying the other submod ...gl and hope you find one you like...Any questions about my mod give a post on my forum, I'll be glad to answer them![]()

the best researched mod after the basic RR 410AD is IJ as kind of main campaign.
can't you just install all of them since they all use the -mod: switch capability?

I did that.
My only problem is I have campaigns running in each and I'll never get to them all.
IJ is my new favourite. Ruina Romae is good for more general strategies but has balancing issues (particularly Romano British are insanely strong for what they were; it is practically impossible to play Picts VH/VH which is totally, as much as I enjoy playing Romano-British myself)
IJ is good because in Ruina Romae and Rio's religion plays an almost trivial role when it was responsible for major chaos at times.
Well I loved Ruina Romae and I'am about to play Beyond Rome's Glory for a challange.I also noticed that Rio said he added some things so I'am going to check out that mod for new stuff also.Ruina Romae is the best starting mod and in my opinion after playing through IFBG a couple times,it gets easier and easier. So I would advise playing Ruina Romae first to get used to managing a declining empire.

I have heard that there is a mod for Medieval:2 total war that is set into the same era as Invasio Barbarorum. Is this true? If it is, do you haved any plans to work together with them, or with their help transfer Invasio Barbarorum to Medieval:2 total war?
You mean "The Gathering Storm"?The units are a gem aesthetically
for sure.
