How to turn off lingering arrows?

How do I turn off SS's lingering arrows?

In vanilla they disappear a few moments after being fired. While I really like that they stay, in huge battles with lots of archers, my computer simply can't handle it. The game crashes.

I did a search and couldn't find a thread. I'm sure this has been answered before...

This does not affect the arrows.

You need to look into the descr_impacts.txt file and decrease the timers manually.

No, I figured that out after looking at it. It affects dust.

Do permenant arrows actually increase that much lag? I can understand about the rendering of many different objects, but they are all the same so the computer only needs to remember 1

I like having them on anyways, make the game more realistic
