    Default Think this will work?

    Hey!
I have been lurking in this forum for a long time, and it's my first thread.
So how do you like this idea:
Before the civil war I send assassins to kill of Brutii and Scipii family members (mostly Brutii though)
I also send infected spies into their cities.
I position a "guerilla" army in Greece, and once civil war breaks out, I conquer cities, exterminate, put 1 peasant unit in it and move my army on. Once the town is besieged, I destroy every building in it.
I also position 2 armies in Italy, 1 in Northern Brutii Territory, and 1 in Sicily.
Do you think this is a good idea?

P.S.: This is my first post, so I apologize if it's not clear.

Well, for a start, do you know how hard it is for rookie assasins to assasinate family members? It's about a 2 or 3% chance, which means they almost always miss or get caught and killed.
Next, if you exterminate all of your conquered cities, you'll basically get almost no income from them, and if you just put one peasant unit in each one, if the AI suddenly manages to get past your lines and attack one of your settlements, they'll make easy work of the garrison.

    Hey!
Well, my assassin has about 9 subterfuge, is an expert assassin, etc. He has already killed about 3-5 Brutii family members. And about the extermination, that is the point! I want to get a settlement, exterminate it to get money, then build one peasant just to have a bit of garrison, and then i dont care what happens to it. Because the Greek Cities are "core" to the Brutii, if they conquer it back, they wont get a lot of money from it because of the lack of buildings ( I'll also destroy every building when the city is under siege). This will effectively crumble their economy, and when they wont have a lot of money, I will move in my big armies to conquer them properly. Also before the civil war starts, I will move infected spies into their cities to at least slow down their economy. That is my plan.
    How do you like it?

Sometimes destroying a faction's leaders, so all the cities turn rebel, makes the challenge harder by filling the city with a full load of units. Plus, other factions will pounce on those rebel cities right away. So if you want to take them first, and you're fit for it, why not just do it?

I want to play R:TW again (maybe finally get the realism mod) and wait till is at full development, then fill the city full of spies and have assassins damage all the peace keeping buildings. Give the Senate another territory beforehand, so when they get kicked out, they have a new capital to upgrade, and I can then siege and take over a rebel Rome, get the First Legionary Cohorts early, and the ecomic bonus.

If you capture cities in Greece but cannot hold onto them, it might be worth whacking up the tax rates and letting them rebel. The Brutii will then have to deal with a sizeable garrison of rebels rather than your one unit of peasants. This should drain out their armies to make conquering them much easier.

rookie asassins suck, so have them practice on rebel captains and diplomats first. b sure u pay attention 2 success rate bfore executing the mission. Thats a good idea, having infected spies infiltrate enemy cities, but u have 2 b careful with that. infiltrating enemy cites too close 2 u can infect ur cities 2 and when u capture the city later, ull get plague. Also, i dont really get the whole "taking greek towns and destroying them" thing. if u mean razing them and leaving them desolate little rebel settlements, i woudnt think of such a thing! but generally thats a good strategy. its always good to send lots of agents ahead bfore u attack to undermine their war effort. But did u ever plan massive blockades? against a powerful enemy, i always blockade as many of his ports as possible 2 bankrupt him and cause unrest in his cities. i did this once as parthia vs. julii. they (julii) owned all of greece and eastern and central europe. i blockaded all their ports 4 ten years bfore invading and by then they were so broke that most of their cities had rebelled and the rest had 1-2 cohorts in them. i therefore was able to utterly destroy the julii in 4 years after the 10-yr blockade. it was sweet
Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

Hello tornadoli and welcome to the forums. and congrats, lurking is the most sensible thing to do - i should know

Anyway, there's ome mighty fine ideas there - you will have to train up those assasins though and getting the spies to be infected in the first place will be challenging. You may need more than 1 peasant unit in each city (take my word for it, NEVER use peasants - ever. There is ALWAYS a better option).

I like it though - if it works well, show me some pictures and i will happily give you a rep+ !
