    Default adding events

    Hi There,

I'd like to add some events to MTW2.

I did try this, following a very clear tutorial, but for some reason it didn't work out in my game. Basically what I did was this:

    1. Added a historical event to 'historic_events.txt' and also added a title.
    2. Added the event plus turn/year in 'descr_events'.
    3. Took an image from 'southern_european/eventspic' and renamed it after my event.
    4. Copied the amended files to my mod's 'data' folder.

But nothing happened. And so I copied the amended files to the vanilla 'data' folder. Again, nothing happened.

Thing is, the tutorial (by selenius4tsd) is so clear and precise, I don't know how I screwed up. But i'm running a '1 turn per year' script - could this have affected the new 'event'?

Also, my mod's 'data' folder doesn't have a 'ui' folder (where the eventspic stuff lives), so I had to invent one. But it just had the modded 'eventspic' stuff in it. Meanwhile, vanilla MTW2 does have a 'ui' folder full of stuff. Is there a conflict here?

Basically, I just need a simple walkthrough, as the tutorial itself is very good - I'm just not doing something right.

Any advice on this would be really welcome, as i'd like to crack this problem. Thanks in advance for replies.

That depends on what year the events will fire? if you lower the turn number then this event would take twice as long.

    Hi J@mes,

OK, so if I'm running a 1 turn per year script does that not affect how I flag the events?

In the tutorial I read (designed for vanilla with a 2 year per turn script), it said to use '2' (i.e. 'turn 2') if you want an event to fire in AD 1082. But when I tried to add an event (running a 1tpy script) and used '2' for an event I wanted to fire in AD 1082, nothing happened, even though I let the game run through several years.

It struck me that I'd made some fundamental error, either in the way I'd amended the game files or in the location I'd saved them.
