Crushing With the English

Hi, I'm new to the fourms and to the whole total war series.

I haven't got the game, but in a few days i will.

I had a look at all the factions, and the English interest me (mainly because i live in England) are there any good english tips or strategy?

Well everyones style is different. But i guess that despite the fact that it doesnt sound historically feasible, Have a alliance with the french and just get rid of scotland and then choose your targets at will.

I guess you should crush the French quickly(after blitzing Scotland first,ofc).
A friend of mine let the French grow too powerful for him to handle and they gave him a really hard time. An alliance with the French may buy you some time to tech up and take the rebel settlements along the north coast of France&Germany, but they will attack you eventually(as killing off England is a victory condition for them). I chose to ally with Milan because they usually(if not always) duke it out with France.

As for expanding goes, grabbing Oslo and Stockholm gives you the opportunity to start wars with the HRE when they get excommunicated(and thus are fair game for other catholic rulers),and Spain is a good choice too. You could first take the Moor settlements there so the Pope won't get angry with you. Tech up, and ally with either Spain or Portugal,take the other one out and prepare to stab your new best friend in the back...

My strategy as England is to take control of Britain before attacking France or Scandanavia. Though be cafeful as Portugal and Spain have a tendancy to send a fleet full of soldier and attack Wales.

Straight away go after Scotland taking York in the way.Take ALL island rebel settlments inculding Ireland and convert ALL settlements to cities exept Notthingem(and Caen ofc).if you do good in turn 20 you should make nice
profit/turn,secure waters and go after rebel settlements Rennes,Bruges or(and) Antwerp,if they are still unoccupied.By that time some of factions will attack you so go after them and show them superiority of English (missile) units
