    I am a fan of SS and Deus Lo Vult. Love both, I think, SS is simpler and faster, but Deus Lo Vult is more detailed and much more polished. Great work to all the modders and contributers.

    I have 3 questions

    1) In the export_descr_unit file all the units have
    ; stat_pri_armour Details of the man's defences
    ; armour factor
    ; defensive skill factor (not used when shot at)
    ; shield factor (only used for attacks from the front of left)
    ; sound type when hit = flesh, leather, or metal
    ; stat_armour_ex Details of the man's defences
    ; armour factor. 4 values. First for base value, then 3 upgrade levels
    ; defensive skill factor (not used when shot at)
    ; shield factors. First for melee, second for missile fire
    ; sound type when hit = flesh, leather, or metal

    My question is what does the armour factor. 4 values. First for base value, then 3 upgrade levels mean? If you have a unit with
    stat_pri_armour 9, 6, 4, metal
    ;stat_armour_ex 9, 8, 0, 0, 6, 4, 4, metal
    and his upgrade level is: armour_ug_levels 3, 4
    What does this mean. I get the base value is 9. and if he gets a upgrade at 3 and 4 his armor goes up, but what does 8 have to do with it and when he buys his 4 upgrade there is nothing at all. (9 [base I get], 8 [?], 0[?], 0 [?], 6 [I get this its defense], 4 [I get this shield], 4, [I get this shield],metal)

    2) Why is there a export_descr_unit_cat in the data folder? what does it do? There already is a export_descr_unit file in the data folder. If you modify the export_descr_unit_cat does it affect the export_descr_unit or vise versa.

    3) Spear units have the spear primary weapon attributes.
    ; spear = Used for long spears. Gives bonuses fighting cavalry, and penalties against infantry
    ; spear & light_spear = The unit when braced has various protecting mechanisms versus cavalry charges from the front
    spear_bonus_x = attack bonus against cavalry. x = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12
    My question is what and where is the penalties against fighting infantry stated? Is it the spear bonus? So if a pike man unit had a spear bonus of 8 then they gain a +8 vs calvary, but a -8 versus infantry or that penalty vs infantry somewhere else?

    I can give a educated guess on 1 but not the other two, the read me said 1st base armour and then 3 upgrades. Well if that is an elite unit that starts with a high armour already, what can it upgrade to? What unit did you post up as an example? I would also go so far as to think they limited what a unit can upgrade to by historical records of what was the heaviest armour a unit wore, and will upgrading it again take it from a light or med category to either a medium or heavy category. ut these are just guesses as i had no role in developing anything here. hope it eases your mind a little.
