What is the recommended unit scale for Roma Surrectum?

    Large, Huge or Highest?

    What is "historically accurate"?

    (playing as Rome)

    HUGE!

If your machine can handle it...

As big as you can get it! Massive battles are the most fun!

Well, a single cohort was something like 480 men (firsts were over 1k), so even if you're on huge, you're not even half way. That's for history.
As for fun, I agree with above posts, get as much as you can get from your machine. The more the better. Remember that when it comes to having 6k+ men in field for both sides is quite a challenge for graphic card.

EDIT: It has some implications in the gameplay. Recruiting 10 units of infantry might mean that you take away 2400 people from the settlement. Which obviously has both pros and cons.

Does this mean I have to start a new campaign?
Cuz in my saved games the units wont be renumbered after changing unit scale and loading the game again.

As everyone else has said - go for what your computer can handle, but still with decent other graphics settings. I can go up to large and still have everything set to either medium or high and not get any lag in battles unless there are mega numbers of troops.

i use to play on large with everything on medium but with dust, aa, reflections, gloss map, shadows, grass disabled and battle resolution at 1024x764 with no lag. im starting to now play on huge though but with everything on low and with 9000 men (2 full stack armies) i get a bit of lag but not much. system specs are amd 3200, 1 gig ddr ram and x300se lol xd.

I started a new campaign with HUGE scale units, and wow.

I changed all video options to the max, with 1680x1050 res, and although it's a little bat laggy, my computer can still handle it.

This is massive slaughterhouse, man! The battles look very cool and much more realistic. Now I really have to consider my initial unit positions, and each unit movement.

I built the first Army Barrakcs in Rome and starting to produce those VE legions, sending them against Carthage in Sicily, and they rock! Will anyone stop them? I highly doubt.

    ROMA VICTOR!

Perfect mod, the best one I tried so far.

    and wow
Amen! With my new video card I can finally play on huge, and the difference is amazing. This is how RTW was meant to be played -- it's just a madhouse out there on the battlefield!

There are plenty of video options to mess with, all having some impact on the visual looks of the battle and your computer's performance. You guys say you have weak hardware? Bow down to this : 3.0GHz CPU; 1 Gig RAM; nVIDIA FX5700LE 256MB (IMO the WORST video card I could have bought when taking this configuration. Even an FX5700 128MB would be better, I think.)
So imagine playing RTW with these specs, guys, and keep in mind how lucky you actually are to enjoy this great mod on a huge unit scale with most options as high as they can go. I have all my options to 'Low', otherwise I can't play without lag.
