    Default modding Judaism

    Hi There,

I added Judaism as a religion into MTW2 but need some advice.

Basically, I added Judaism as a religion to certain cities, with a base level of between 2 and 10 per cent. Having done this I ran the game to see what would happen. Well, religious unrest was up, as might be expected. But when I built churches and recuited priests, the Judaism percentage gradually dwindled to nothing. By AD 1121 most traces of it had disappeared. Is there a way of helping Judaism survive longer?

For example, would it be possible to add synagogues and recruit rabbis? I ask because I think this may be a way of helping Judaism survive longer.

My whole idea with this Judaism thing is simply to recreate a more historical Medieval scenario.

Well, any help and advcie would be welcome. I'm only a beginner at modding, so I need basic advice. Thanks in advance.

I think there's a scripting command in Kingdoms that could be used. Otherwise you could spawn jewish priests. You could create synagogue-type buildings but unfortunately there's still the RTW restriction of only one type of temple_ per settlement, so you'll have to change the internal building names.

No thing is everything. Every thing is nothing.

    Hi alpaca,

Thanks for this info. That's a shame about only 1 type of religious building per settlement.

But i'd be keen to try and set up a situation where towns like Krakow, Vienna, Prague had big synagogues, as in real life.

Well you can add additional religious buildings, just don't give them the temple_ prefix for their internal name and set them up to belong to religion judaism. The only problem with that for the "normal" religious buildings is that if you remove the prefix, they won't be destroyed on conquest by a faction with another state religion anymore (that means the AI will never destroy them and suffer)

    Hi alpaca,

Thanks for this. Mmm, interesting. Maybe it's OK that a few Judaic buildings last, if I only put them in Krakow, Prague, Budapest, Jerusalem, say?

As it happens, I don't even know how to add ANY building to the game yet, coz I've only been modding a few weeks (even though I've been playing mods for a while now). But I guess there's a tutuorial around somewhere?

Meanwhile, another question: when I added the Judaic religion into MTW2 everything worked fine - even the little Star of David pip thing that I added. But, annoyingly, the game won't display the word 'Judaic' in full - it only shows 'Judai' when I mouse over the pip in settlement details. I've checked my modded files and I've definitely written 'Judaic' everywhere. Is there a way I can fix this? Have I made some error somewhere? Thanks in advance for help!

yes you need a tab space in front of it.

Really? I thought you'd rather have to press return AFTER it?

For a tutorial on buildings check the 'Guide to Guilds' in the Tutorial Forum. While, as the name implies, it's primary concern is modding guilds, it also covers almost everything you'll ever like to know about adding buildings.

    Cheers!

    Hi There,

That's great - many thanks for the info, I'll check out the tutorial.

As for the 'Judaic' problem above, I just added a tab space after 'Judaic' in religions.txt and it appeared properly in the game.

Yeah it happens in all of the text files. The last character is stripped because CA messed up their indexing I guess (tab and newline are also characters in this context).
