preferences nowhere to be found

Hi,

I got a RTW gold version on a dvd - installed it and then installed the RTRPE mod switch version v1.9. Everything goes well, but the preferences folders (both under BI and RTRPE) are empty - no preferences.txt file to find. I did a search on the entire RTW directory, nothing found. game runs fine though, but i can't change my preferences (larger unit size and names of characters on the campaign map, mainly).
I even copied a preferences file i had from an older install into the preferences folders, but to no avail, the game doesn't seem to read it ...

anyone know what's going on?

Are you running on Vista? I'm thinking Vista places the preferences file elsewhere.

i am indeed running vista, but does vista place the file somewhere outside the entire RTW folder? thanks for the clue, i'll try it when i get home tonight.

Florin, you were correct - thanks man, i turned off UAC, installed RTRPE again, and it's all sweet now - THANKS!
