Default Medieval Total War 2 Options

Hey guys, I recently have come across a problem when playing Med. 2 which is that I set the options in the beginning of the game such as resolution, graphics, sound. Then I turn Med 2 off since its a huge hog of my resources and I have to use other programs. Once I turn it back on to play it again it goes to it's default options rather the ones I specify. Any clue to fix my problem?

i hate to say it as i would hate to do it, but maybe you should try lowering your settings.

That is the thing, I do lower my settings because it gets choppy to play big battles and still. From 1280X768 to 1024X768 and from High unit graphics to medium and from bloom and reflection to no bloom or reflections and still it stubbornly won't change.

I suffer from the same problem as well.

It's not that I'm irritated by it. I can simply change it every time I launch the game.
    It's just...an inconvenience.

yeah read-only locks options before game was started. So uncheck read-only from you config file then, start game, make changes then check read-only again after you quit game to lock options so they don't change back. The game will reset to defaults if read-only is unchecked when you start game.

Funny thing is, the Read-only box is already unchecked.
That goes for all the .cfg files.

That isn't what he meant. What he means is:

    1. Start the game.
    2. Apply your preferred settings.
    3. Make sure you click on apply changes.
    4. Close the game.
    5. Go to Medieval2.preferences.cfg.
    6. Open it with Notepad and check for your settings.
    7. Close notepad.
    8. Click on properties for that file and make it read-only.

I did that and it worked out. Thanks Lonck.

    Oh, I see.
I must have misread that last part.
