Default Can't change my MTWII file from Read-Only?

I'm working out of Vista, and for some reason every time I switch the main, big folder (or any in MTWII file) off of 'Read-Only' so I can modify the files, it goes through its thing and then immediately switches back. This basically means I can't figure out how to play the BC mod or unlock all the factions.

Does anybody know how to permanently switch the file off of read-only?

The problem is well known for all Vista users, but some users have been able to change a few folders. Maybe you could try installing the game in a different location other that the default to see if that works. To my knowledge no solution is available. Microsoft did this to prevent malware from infecting your computer.

Give yourself full administrative privileges starting from the drive letter all the way to the last folder and just turn off the UAC. It's a pain but it works.

I will trust you with that one, I have avoided Vista at all costs. Also here is a link for the UAC:
