It was some 6000 men on the field.

I play with everything on high.
Except Bloom and AA is off.

I have 2GB RAM
And an old GeForce 7900 (Still serves me well).

2 gigs at 667
and an ATI HD 2600 XT (256 MB)

I play EVERYTHING maxed out (includin AA and such) on 1280x 1024

Im gonna try a battle with 10,000 men to see if my comp can take it

it lagged moderately, so i havnt tried anything higher.

13500. Fighting during a Broken Crescent campaign and playing as the ERE. 4 stacks of mine against three Abbuyad stacks.
Most of the times I had 7 or 8 fps, but sometimes it went down to 2 to 3. It was really fun. I left my graphics on the highest settings: Huge units, AA and AF on max, resolution 1600 x 1032, all highest details. the only thing is don't have on the highest settings is shadows.

how did you get 24000 men on the battle field i could only get a max of like 16000 to18000 on mine with everything maxed out??

In custom games you can have a battle between 8 armies. If you only recruit militia units (or peasants) with 150 men each (huge size), you can have 8 * 20 * 150 = 24,000 men on the battlefield.

I just tried a custom battle in RTW. I had 36941 men on the battlefield. It was a nice very slow slide show. Not very nice to play that way. Battles will take hours to complete

8 x 20 x 241 = 38560 is the maximum unmodded in RTW.

Not tried to engineer a huge battle but that's my biggest crusade to Cairo against a full garrison of non crap troops - I nearly fainted, got so used to crusading against 2 archer militia.

how did u have over 4000 men in a single army?!

even on husge scale i dont think thats possible
