Why can there be nothing wrong with America according to some eyes?

I mean I attack an aspect of American society and I am deemed as an America basher. What the hell?

Why can't some people admit not everything in the US is perfect and that our smells too?

We don't have to be perfect but we realize we are better at lots of things than most everyone else .

Achieved superpower status without killing to many people
Sole Superpower (democratic too, who said it took an emperor?)
Worlds highest GDP (how far behind is number two again?)
Most advanced industrial base (Silicon Valley, High end Manufacturing, China got the grunt work)
Most Advanced Military (sure nation A claims to have a better sub, and somebody claims a better tank, but only we have force projection)

That is the price you pay for being the only superpower left, until recently the stronger economy in the world and a nation that should embody all sense of human progress as opposed to AIDS ridden third world countries, theocratic and military dictatorships, criminal governments and corrupted administrations.

Every aspect of American life is magnified, every flaw excessively scrutinized every achievement is met with undue sceptisism. The world cannot treat America like Myanmar or Colombia.

Although now after 8 years of sour relationships the question should be "why everything in the US should stink?"

I don't think that (except the PR glamour of the next administration) anything can be done about it or that Americans should be extremely surprised by this.

To sum it up the US is basically the Paris Hilton/Lindsay Lohan of the geopolitical world. Was French foreign minister recently who said the "magic" the US had is over and for the most part I cant disagree. The curtain has fallen open and we've been revealed to be nothing but what everyone else is, human with all its flaws, screw ups and greatness etc. This of course isnt bad but it is a short term reality check for our country that began to believe it was something other then what we really are and for allies who wanted to believe it. Long term it can only be positive unless of course 300million of us started to becoming delusional but that isnt going to happen Short term you get some people who see nothing but the flaws who in term produce people who see nothing but the greatness to combat it and both of these sides overact anytime a point that runs counter to their view is stated. Its why for some people you cant point out a real negative about the US without being anti american and for others you cant point out a real achievement by the US without someone trying to cut it down.

Israel has a very advanced military but everything they have is largely of western design, Israel is a very small nation and despite its amazing accomplishments you have to be realistic.

Also Israel has damn near zero force projections.

The united states is a mix of a decent sized military, incredibly technology, and the ability to project it with alot of force. It could however be greatly improved if someone where to clean up the organisation, but still it is far superior to the current contenders. Well at least as a broad organisation, other militarys can specialize in more unique categorys but still not come close to american tech.

In rts speak, america are the boomers, who mass industry, agriculture and research.

America has the exact same flaw as any other country, and we don't have to explain it for that to be obvious.

Just as well, we are a country of nationalism, so it's only natural that some American's will try to portray America as 'perfect'. And while I know we're not perfect, I don't think we're any worse than the other countries in the world, as some might try to make out.

When you're one of the most influential countries in the world, it's only natural that the rest of the world will hold you in extreme scrutiny.

The rest of the world is fascinated with America. It's really strange to be honest. Especially from an American perspective, given that many Americans don't even care about Europe, much less care enough to criticize it on a daily basis.

There is plenty wrong with every country, yet the majority of country bashing here, and most places, is directed at the US. Its usually based on the same few issues, and the arguments or comments are not very well thought out, or just plain retarded.

Whats more, I don't recall anyone here of US nationality claiming their country was perfect, just a lot of us responding to a good amount of rubbish that is consistently thrown our way.
