    Default governors always becoming corrupt

I mean, sure power corrupts but it's really annoying to see ALL my governors become corrupt after a few years or so in service.

Is this normal? I use the Sassanids (BI) and I've already conquered the antioch-jerusalem highway so'm earning a lot from trade. Every time I put a family member with high enough management skills, he then gets the "lover of beauty" trait, then after three years he becomes a corrupt embezzler. And that happens everytime.

    what the f?

I'm guessing you have more than 50,000 florins right now, which is probably why you're getting corrupt traits so easily. Eight percent change to get embezzler points per turn when you have 150,000 florins or higher, five percent at 100,000 or higher, three percent at 50,000 or higher.

I think I've read here in the forum that if you move your governors out of the city and then back into it, they are less likely to get all those corrupting traits. They can't have full movement points at the end of the turn. I guess if they get out of the city, they have less opportunity to grab some of that extra cash lying around.

    Right, but denarii, not florins...

In BI governers always seem to end up corrupt, even if you do the -50k trick.

Yeh, I've always noticed that having high amounts of money causes corrupt leaders.

Just spend your money instead of saving it. It's always been like this. If there was a pile of gold that no one is using you would dip your fingers in wouldn't you?

The best thing you can do, as stated above, is move your governors each turn. This reduces their movement points, which reduces their bad trait chances. Think about it, who would be a better governor: one who hid in his palace all day and had no contact with the people or events, or one who kept his finger on the pulse of the people by checking on things in his province? You can't delegate everything, and that which is delegated still needs to be checked on.

Thats because in BI the 'corruption limit' is 13000 denarii, not 50000.

You can also queue up construction ahead of time. The gold is subtracted from your treasury, but not spent until the building starts construction. If you need the money later, just go unqueue a few buildings. Works in RTW 1.5, but I haven't tried it in BI.
