is there really much point in playing rs with the bi.exe?
is there really much point in playing rs with the bi.exe?
Yes, slightly better battle field AI and the campaign map AI is far improved. It does naval invasions and is more aggressive.

How to use bi.exe? Is it JUST the .exe file or do I need to have whole BI extension? Until now I've been playing with vanilla RTW, so will it be save-compatible with bi.exe-way?
Definitely, the AI is much better, especially when it comes to naval invasions, with BI you will see the Bosporans heading across the black sea to attack Pontus, and Syracuse sometimes takes Carthage.
@ Mjr Phil, the save might be compatible, but don't hold your breath.
OK, so shall I install BI or just extract bi.exe to RTW directory?
Well, if I do that, I will probably need to reinstall RS as well, right? Since RS breaks BI, then BI breaks RS... And that takes much more time than just copying single file, hence my question![]()
Installing BI shouldn't break RS, assuming RS is already installed properly, because it shouldn't be touching the files from RTW which is what RS overwrites.
Even if it does break RS, just running the RS installer again over it (instead of recopying a RTW directory and doing all that) should work - it has for me in the past when I've messed something up in the RS files.

Better how?
Guru has spokenIt's good that whole juice is in *.exe . I expect the same with Alexander extension. Will try that today evening
Thanks!
Installing BI WILL break RS, guys. You can just extract the BI.exe and use it all by itself. In fact, if you do it that way, you don't even need the :mod switch, because BI.exe can only find the RTW folder and will just start it automatically.
Also, BI is a complete install of BOTH BI and RTW, so you could install it into a different folder.

so... would this work? uninstall rtw + rs then install rtw again, patch it to 1.3 then 1.5, install bi, then finally install rs and run it with the bi.exe. would it still be broken then?
and do u mean that i could just install bi into a different folder, copy the bi.exe, paste it to rtw main directory and run bi.exe ? would that work and still implement all the ai advantages? if this works then the same could be done with the alex.exe right?

Wondering if anyone could help on this.
I just reinstalled RTW. Installed BI. Patched RTW to 1.5. Then installed RS.
I just want to use the AI from BI. The install thread sticky says to delete the BI subfolder and just run the rometw-bi exe. i do that and it ask for disk. I have the RTW disk in and it still ask for a disk. It will run with the BI disk in but i cant do a imperial campaign. Says to select something from the list.
Now if i run the RomeTW exe with the RomeTW disk in it runs fine. But now is my AI BI or just RTW?

Are you just running the BI exe or are you using the shortcut the RS created for it. When you installed RS it should have created 2 shortcuts, one for playing with RTW and one for playing with BI. Try using the shortcut to run it if you are not already.
ya i ran that shortcut and ask for the disk. Then it runs with BI disk but no info for the imperial campaign.
That's how I understand it. But no need to do that much. If you simply use only bi.exe instead of rtw.exe it will work anyway. No installation needed.
Here's a link that should help. It regards Alex, but isn't that the same, method-wise?
