Icon9 CTD, I'm guessing a codec problem, but what?

I installed RTW, using the 3 cds. Than installed patch 1.3, than 1.5. But when I try to run RTW it crashes seconds after running.

I tried using -show_err to get a error message, but it doesn't work somehow. No error message, just a ctd.

I have renamed the movies, this brought me to loading the menu, but when the loading finished and it should show the menu, it crashes again.

That's where I am now, and I have no idea what exactly causes it. I'm guessing a problem with a codec or something, because the renaming of the movies brought me a little further, and I know the menu itself uses some kind of animation. But where is it stored? I can't find it. On the other hand, I also would like to be able to view the videos, as it makes it all a lot nicer.

    So...

    1. If someone could tell me where the menu animation is stored, that would help for now, as I think I could play again.

    2. If someone could tell me which codec settings to check, that would be suberb.

    Thank you!

I doubt it's a codec problem as your computer should have it already. I think it's very generic that everybody has it. Is your windows media player updated fully? If it isn't, try doing it. Also, try adding the line -nm to the end of the target line of your shortcut.

-nm seems to have fixed it. nm = no movies?

(Yeah, I also would say my codecs are fine. Ah well. I must say I can live with this situation, image instead of animation. Fine with me. )

    Thanks for your help.
