    As I have said.
I am here to ask for Rome's help.
Please do not abandon us to these wolfs.

ooc: much has changed in the campaign map and these small factions are dying off fast. Soon we will be engulfed by super-factions and these known to us will be obsolete.
BTW we are one of the smaller factions as well in comparison to land.

After asking quietly from a senator what is going on,he stans up and says he's opinion.

"I think that we can't send our legions to help them. Our ships would not be safe and resuppliement is difficult. We can only help you with money."

You would not need to send an army.
I have heard of stories where members of this house would be accompanied by a handful of men and have complete autonomy over their enemies.
    Can this not be done?

"We have some persuasive politicians, we could try to bribe the Armenians." seeing the Greek open his mouth, he adds: "I know you tried that, but we have politicians who are trained to persuade, you do not, as there is no need for that when you have a king."

We could send some military advisors to train their men and provide them with weapons and armor.
OOC:thats actually a good idea as the Kingdom of Pergamum actually did have there own sort of legions.

    I beg of you.
    Anything.
We will not last long and every minute we spend deciding, our fate is left to the wolfs of Armenia.

So, we'll send 2 generals to Pergamum, they gather a mercenary army en route and they will defeat the Armenian forces threatening Pergamum. We have the generals for the job, because even now young talented men are just sitting around in our cities developing vices. About their transportation, they shall go overseas. Our navy outnumbers any in the Mediteranean thanks to late consul Brutus, no harm shall come to them.

The diplomat smiled for the first time.

    "Yes, yes. That would work.
Please we must arrange this as soon as possible.''

Now for a capable administrator to organise such an endeavour... Our noble senior consul is on campaign in Africa, a campaign which will last longer than Pergamum can hold out. The next choice would be the Junior Consul: Valerius Publicola. I can imagine no better available magistrate to lead this expedition.

Must I ask again for that military report? I was hoping the Senate would have it by now... In any case, on the matter of Pergamon. I am of the opinion that Rome should stay out of the conflict militarily; if we are present in this conflict, even by a Roman leading a mercenary army -leave aside the Junior Consul of the Roman Republic!-, it will not look good with the nation of Seleucia, the biggest Empire in the East. As you can understand, we have no jurisdiction to edjudicate national disputes when another great power is present in the area; it would look as if we disrespect the Seleucids and that, my friends, would unbalance the entire East! To that end, I'll vote against the motion to send an army east - even a mercenary force. In its stead, I propose a counter motion:

I propose that we send to Pergamon economic help, 10,000 denarii now to leave with the diplomat over here and a sum of 90,000 denarii to be delivered over the next 10 terms. However, the Pergamon King is required to pay back the loan in a period of 100 years with a loan interest of 33%
(we'll use force diplomacy feature to have them pay tribute over time).

Perhaps we could ask that anonimous cartographer to make a new map of the world.

"I am flattered that you would have me lead an army, but it is a task I cannot take. The idea of a war so far away makes no strategic or logical sense."

    He turns to the diplomat,

"I weep for your people, but they are your people. We cannot be the protectors of the downtrodden, for this world is cruel and calculated and if Fortuna wish that you be crushed, then we men have no place in fighting her will. You may leave the senate. The tribune will veto and if that is overturned, so will I. if it comes to it. Your presence is no longer required."
add "wick" on the end of my name.

"Wait Consul! Let us not be remembered as not hospitable to those that come for aid... How would that look with the Gods? Have you forgotten that it is the will of Jupiter to be good hosts whether in our houses or in the Senate House. Now, in your matter; if we aid those that come to us seeking help and guidance, we show the world that Rome is the light, the protector of freedom for any nation. However, as the Consul says, war so far from home is not advisable - nor is it logic for that matter. But we cannot be seen not helping those that demand liberty, can we?"

That is why I suggested what I suggested. We cannot spare a legion to send to Pergamum, nor would the senate allow it. We do however have a lot of generals unable to develop their skills. We can send a few of them to fight with local mercenaries.

"But senator, if Roman Generals are seen commanding Pergamian units it will be an unofficial decleration of war to Armenia and for no good reason. Wouldn't they turn to the Seleucids if they see that the nation of Pergamon has brought Rome along into the war and if they do, won't the Seleucid Kings not grant the offer of assistance to the Armenians, defending their rights on Asia?

For that reason, Conscrip Fathers, I suggest that we give to the Kingdom of Pergamon a loan instead of Generals."
