    Default rebellions

    hi

im trying to get my border provinces to rebel and become rebel states so that i can have a buffer zone between my empire and the seleucids - so i have been taking cities, destroying auxilia buildings and building roman things there and letting them rebel -

this works sometimes but some cities keep rebelling back to the seleucids - can anyone help me with this?

I think there is nothing to do... if the city was once Seleucid, if it rebels there is a possibility that will return Seleucid

Yeah, Mikail is right. Unless you completely destroy the Seleucids, then it'll return to them. Unless of course, it wasn't there's in the beginning of the game, in which case I THINK it might go rebel.

A (temporary) peace treaty wil work. In my games it always works fine (could have been pure luck... but it worked )

    Edit:
I think you have to let the cities rebel during the peace. Not sure if it wil still work when you are at war with them again.

You could try keeping it for a little while, waiting for culture penalty to go down and then losing it in like 5-10 turns, that may help?

If it's a buffer zone you want, have you tried gifting the province to another neutral or allied faction? The only danger with that though is, once you share a common border, that faction is likely to turn and betray you.

unfortunately im now at war with every other faction in the game - i was allied to the sarmatians but the swine stabbed me in the back and declared war on me - completely unreasonable - i was giving them 10000 denarii per turn to keep them friendly -

Hehe - I know the feeling! If you share a border with a faction, forget any alliances you have with them, it's only a matter of time before they attack you. It's probably best that you prepare, and attack them at a time that suits you.

It's okay. Just destroy all buildings in the town and send it to some faction very far away from it - to ensure that you can easily capture it back once they build the auxilia phase 2

I've given provinces I don't want to factions I'm currently at war with. Most recently I did this with Thrace. I conquered all but one Thracian province, exterminated them, tore down all the buildings, then gave away provinces to Thrace (enemy) and Germany (ally).

This shortened my border by several provinces, reducing my overall garrison requirements. It also prevented Thrace from acquiring any non-merc units for many turns. Germany is busy picking a fight with rebels and Thracians and I'm conquering Anatolia. I think that's a fair trade.
