I am curious about the sasanid cavalry that hold strange mechanism that can throw 5 arrows at the same time..

Can anybody give me information about this cavalry..?:hmmm:

That is called "Panjagan", roughly translated "Five-device".
That portrayed is conjectural, because no sample has been found so far.

It is assumed that the Sassanians used that device, when area-effect fire was needed (e.g. against dense-packed enemy ranks).

The portrayed knight is equipped in the typical late Sassanians style and of high rank (at least he commands the whole Savaran cavalry in that battle).

But so far are no certain unit known, that used the Panjagan.
IMO it fits better being used by foot archers, riding an ever-moving horse proper handling can be difficult.

That looks like a fantasy weapon.Never seen something like it.Looks like a manuballistari but throws 5 arrows at a time.But looking at the armor and helmet
i can say this is a savaran.
