    Default ETW engine

Apparently the ETW engine is a total rewrite .. and considering it should be released later this year, you might want to wait for it's release to see if it's a quantum leap ahead before doing all this work on KTW mod? ... ETW will have naval units!!

Well, that's what I'm doing .. what do you think? or do you know the new engine won't be a revolution?

I think that it will suck for non-naval units, considering that most land battles were fought with guns and cavalry, I really doubt that infantry battles would be any good.

the best way to resolve this is via a poll
i think it has been asked too many times, and the answer is still the same....

Because of the new engine, there is not guarantee that formations such as the phalanx will be included. Also, as has already been mentioned, the engine will be built for the new gunpowder units, so there's no telling how battle of EBs time period will play on it. That, plus the fact that it'll add another year/year and a half on to the waiting time for EB2, and it's really not a great idea.

It will take at least a year for people to figure out how the engine works and then you'll have to wait for a stable patch before work can even start. The EB team has learned all the minute details of the RTW/M2TW engine and ETW would mean everyone had to start over with no experience.

And since work is already well underway on EB2...

Hm... last I checked, there are already naval units in MTW2. Or do you mean Naval BATTLES?

Well a new engine for Empires would make sense, since most units will be ranged. And, of course, they'll need it for the new Naval battles. I'm not so sure if creating EB for ETW is a good idea, if that's what you're suggesting. That would mean taking an engine designed for 18th century battles, and using it for 3rd century battles.
