Unspecified error for battle maps

Whenever I attempt to go into a battle map (campaign battel, quick battle, custom battle... anything) the game gives me a CTD and unspecified error running xp sp2 brand new install, patched to 1.3 no Kingdoms and I have unpacked the game files

Does it work if the files are not unpacked?

I haven't tried that yet. do you know if I can repack the files, reinstalling can be a big pain

I don't think it's possible to repack it. You might need to reinstall it.

There is no way to repack them. The only option is reinstall.

I too have encountered this problem. I can confirm that with my game at least there is no problem with the unpacked game but as soon as I unpack the files the battles just wont work. Strangely this only affects M2TW and NOT any of the Kingdoms campaigns. I am using the Gold Edition on XP SP2.

Did you delete the two geography files in the data folder?
