Default EBII = Rome Total War II DVD Release?

    I'll try to explain better.

I started looking to this site about an year ago and I feel that all this is quite an injustice. Not for speaking of your immense work or of that of other guys of the greatest mods (RTR, IBFD, RS and so on...) most of the modders here are doing for free a much more dedicated and competent work than what some so called "professionals" do for certain other "historical strategic games"... I don't make names not to offend anyone but someone could intend what I am speaking of.

Such work deserve a more concrete expression and acknowledgement than just a number of downloads, some donations and posts of congratulation.

So this is the question: didn't Creative Assembly ever think to release one (or more...) DVD containing some of the TWC mods when finished? Certainly is a good thing to keep their download free (nobody cuts my throat please...) but personally I would be eager to pay 9.90 Euro for a DVD containing for example EB 1.1, RTR VII, RS II or IBFD 8.0 with its package and historical manual (I think dowloading all them couldn't cost much less for someone) After all if we have FIFA 07, 08, 09... and many included me continue to buy it...

And why talking anymore of Rome Total War II? THIS is Rome Total War II... and The Gathering Storm will be its Barbarian Invasion! Why not releasing it together with CA both as free download and DVD? 9.90 Euro is the usual difference between pure download and package cost of a commercial game so...

I'd like to know what other members of this site think about that.

    Keep up the great work!

    these mods are free
    and should remain free

i wouldn't mind paying 20$ for each mod

but i am afraid that if any moder got involved with a company
they would be restricted on what they could do with the game

i am sure that there are some people who work at Creative Assembly
who wanted to put more time and effort into there games
but there ideas where cut down by someone higher in the company

U forgot to mention that the people at CA had to work with deadlines, also off course they will make the game on such a way that they think will give them the best profit, maybe they knew that LS didnt existed back then but put it in cause it made the game look cooler and they created the whole skeleton that EB used. No offence to u guys but I don't think that they could've made EB without CA and I am pretty sure that the EB team gained a lot of erections from our "Thank u for this great mod" posts.

Firaxis has included in the second expansion of Civ 4 two of the most popular mods made by the community. It would be a good idea to include something in the expansion for Empire, but I dobt they will do it.

Impossible. First of all, for CA to select mods would be considered "picking favorites" by some, and CA would not want to offend some of the smaller mod makers.

Second, how would CA pick the mods? If you ask me, there are to many good mods to choose, and what about the mods still being improved, that wouldn't want their mods "released" yet?

Third, If CA did that, they would need to pay the modders money to avoid the modders claiming that CA was stealing their work. And it would be simply too complicated to divide the money amongst so many people, as well as all of the taxing that would be involved. They might as well give the DVD away for free. But then they'd lose money on the costs of creating CDs. So, they'd have to turn it into an online downloadable pack. But by now, CA doesn't even care, becuase now there are no profits.

Fourth, people who dislike the mods CA would include would think CA has great support for these mods. So, they would start to dislike CA, which could lead to a decreased chance of them buying Empires, and CA doesn't want that, now does it?

Fifth, to do this, CA would need authorization from every single person who participated in the creation of each mod, and getting this authorization is too much of a hassle.

If something like this was to occur, it would have to be a free downloadable pack created by an association of mod-makers. Which will probably never happen unless YOU start it soon.

correct, but Firaxis did all you said. It picked up 2 mods over the others and included them in a official release. There's a difference between "not possible" and "I would not like to see it"

Why not creating brand new game? Get people whit enough devotion for moding and find some good coders. This way some engine could be bought and converted for desired game.

It sounds stupid but whit good organization it can be possible.

When game gets in high developed stage it can be easy to find distributor or maybe combination whit CA?

Yes, my friend. I have just been talking with one coder and he sad that it can be done easily. Many modern games are made with Open source programs. There is bunch of MMORPG's that are made this way and what is most important, there are open source game engines which are possible of producing staggering 3D graphics.

It is possible to make game using 100% open source programs my friends!

There is only devotion of people involved to endure creating of first game.
