Default Is there any way of bringing a "dead" faction back to life?

In my game, Pahlav died in about 215BC, and I was too slow to save them. If I tried to restore their provinces now, they'd just go rebel with Parthian units.

So I don't think there's anything in the normal run of the game I can do to fix that.

Is there a more technical way I can restore them, that's saved-game compatible? Or am I just opening Pandora's Box for CTDs?

I'm wondering if there's some file somewhere that records their "death" that could be edited, along with perhaps another showing who holds what that I could use to give them some provinces back.

Is this a hopeless pipe dream?

Once a faction is dead, it cannot be restored. You can use scripting to give that faction some units and/or cities, but the faction will not get a turn, so it will be useless.

    Oh well, pipedream indeed.
