In South Africa we have 3 major political parties, with 15 total, 16 if you count the communist party which doesn't even have a seat in the assembly.
Anyway, I find alot of people seem to be mis-informed about politics and therefore just go with thier party canidate, I mean the ANC holds 293 seats in the National Assembly, and it seems to me most of thier votes come from misinformed individuals. Now do not mis-inerperet this as a rant against the ANC, even though I am a member of the DA *even though the NNP left it a couple of years ago*.
I often find that alot of people who have no knowledge of a canidate simply vote for them because of what party they align them to, hell I bet if someone put up a person with communist ideaologies. In the United States I find this party loyalty is even worse, since every major political election has been between Democrats and Republicans, meaning there are obviously only 2 choices, leading to an incomplete comprimise. So the question is this, if people have no idea about a canidate why do they even bother to vote for them simply based on thier party? I would rather have a few informed votes as opposed to a ton of uninformed ones.
