I have read an interesting oppinion on capitalism and socialism coming from the very beginning of the time when these terms appeared, from the Pope Leo XIII. He is basically against bothbut more likely against socialism and he very well explains why, kind of predicts what socialism will cause in the XXth century.
The encyclica is a good example of practical phylosophy and is not full of catholic things that much,it's more like pure reasoning and the Pope acts like just a writer, not ex cathedra. I think he wrote reasonable things.
If you have never read an encyclica, now is the time![]()

He has also interesting views on inequality :
"People differ in capacity, skill, health, strength; and unequal fortune is a necessary result of unequal condition. Such inequality is far from being disadvantageous either to individuals or to the community."
Comment please.
