Doge Giorgio was on his way to meet the powefull nobles of the realm.By now, everyone knew that Florence was under genovese rule. And all those who opposed his briliant plans, silent, like they should have been from the begining.Giorgio even took the liberty to arrive five minutes later, just to show them that there is only one ruler and that's him!Like never before, all nobles bowed their heads when the Doge entered the hall. And even before Giogio had the chance to say anything they announced they gathered 2500 florins to support the conquest of Ajaccio.Giorgio faked a smile and thanked them for their support. But he kept from himself the fact that the fleet carying Francisco's army was already en route for Ajaccio. It was the single castle in the area and Giorgio was determined to extend the genovese rule.
Francisco rejoiced.Ajaccio was captured without shooting an arrow. The ajaccian peasants came out, beging for forgivness.
It wasn't exactly what Francisco was looking for, though. He dreamed at epic battles, heroic victories, behaded opponents....not just poor peasents to weak from hunger to even fire a bow...And in a moment, without waiting for an order from his father,he ordered his men to set sail to Marseille.Of course, the french king might not be terribly happy to hear the rebels from Marseille have been teached a lesson by an army not carrying a french flag, but Francisco couldn't care less. The french king was busy enough trying to expel the english from the outskirts of his palace,to care for Marseille.
God was not on Francisco's side this time.A terrible storm killed more than one third of his army while he was laying siege on Marseille.Francisco wondered if fooling around with those beautifull french girls, had anything to do with it....
That must have been,Franciso angrily thought...How else would he been able to capture a settlement without a fight...for the second time?
