More details please. What version of the mod do you have? What version of the game do you have? When does this ctd happen(the year)? If you are using RTRPE do you have the revolt ctd hotfix installed?

I have rometotalrealism_6.2_patch installed along with the 6.0 Gold. Version of the game is RTW 1.2. The shut down occurs in 280B.C. Have no idea what RTRPE, and no i have not installed the revolt ctd hotfix.

RTR 6 Gold is the final version for RTW v1.2. The 6.2 patch is a previous version and you don`t need it. I really wonder where you manged to get a copy of it at this time.

And is your game version 1.2? Because if you have a higher version you can`t play RTR 6 on that. You`d need RTR Platinum. Plus, you said nothing of installing the RTW v1.2 patch(presuming your game came as v1.0 by default).

RTR 6.0 Gold based on RTW 1.2 is an ancient version and I don't think it is supported anymore. I would really suggest you move on to Platinum (RTR: PE); frankly you would be missing out on a lot of improvements sticking with Gold nowadays.

You probably made a mistake with installing the mod as it CTD's (crash to desktop) at the very beginning of the game. So the only option to solve your problem would be (I think) to completely reinstal the mod on a clean version of RTW and follow the installation guide step by step and take your time with every single step. I had a problem that looked like yours (don't remember exactly) and that was simply by doing something wrong during the instalation process .

If you have RTW: Barbarian Invasion you should use the RTRPE (RTR Platinum Edition) (click here). This version makes use of the better AI options that BI offers. (you should get the -mod switch version, this will instal the mod in it's own folder without editing the original game)

Another one is Extended Realism Mod (ExRM) of Quinn Inuit (the one I use ). This makes even more profit of the options offered by BI, including the addition of three factions missing in the original RTR versions (Britons, Epirus and Galatians). Although it is a mini mod for RTRPE -mod switch you don't need to instal RTRPE before you instal ExRM, as it is "all-in-one" (click here for ExRM)

    Good luck with it

ps always follow the installation guide step by step

When you launch your RTW game what version number do you see on the top right hand side of the options menu?

If you see 1.2 then you can play RTR 6 Gold. If you see a version later than 1.2 then you need to patch your game up to 1.5 and install RTR PE. As others have posted you only need to install the RTR 6 Gold patch (which is RTR 6.3 plus hotfix - renamed to RTR 6 Gold) (plus maybe the RTR 6.2 music mod - don't worry it's not the older RTR 6.2 patch just the music). The following web page is the official RTR web site - http://www.rometotalrealism.org/

There is nothing wrong with using RTR 6 Gold - I prefer it to playing RTR PE. There is a known problem with RTR games - late in the campaign there is a problem when the civil war in RTW was going to be triggered. This results in a series of CTDs. The utility RomeSage can be used to get around these problems by advancing a year or two at a time. RomeSage cannot be used with RTR PE.

Make sure that you've added the -show_err switch to the shortcut target. This will return an error message along with the CTD if the error has been trapped by the program.

There is some information at the bottom of this post about the -show_err switch; http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showp...65&postcount=1
