The "Great Middle Eastern War" allready was a big thing in my campaign.
The Golden Horde tried to sack my settlements in the East and supported my archenemy - the Kingdom of Jerusalem - and allied with them. But the KoJ was at war with the Egypts... so after two or three turns we had this:
As I was threatened by the Hordes in the East, I decided to catch a view Byzantine Cities. Sadly, they were allied with the Kievan Rus who defended their Allies and invaded me through the Black Sea.
There was another power in this Sea... Venice fought against the Kievan Rus at the city of Caffa.
Now my alliance had to face two enemy alliances.
But I figured a way out to bring balance back to this war. I declared a Jihad against Nicea - and the Mongols joined it and declared war against the Byzantine Empire.
This war raged for a few years and soon it seemed like the VET-Axis (Venice-Egypt-Turks) would win this war. Egypt kicked the KoJ out of Arabia and southern Holy Land, Venice ripped the entire Kievan Navy, the Turks - they captured Konstantinopel and renamed it Islambol.
Then, everythinged up: A crusade was proclaimed against Islambol.
The first catholic kingdoms who followed the popes call were the Spanish Kingdoms. But Spain was to weak. They were at war with the alliance of the Moors, France and the HRE. So these three (lets call them MFH) allied with the VET.
But the VET wasn't aware that joining forces with the MFH brings them not only new friends.
Srsly, I would have never allied with the MFH if I would have known that they were at war with the NEAT (North European Alliance Treaty - Irland/Norway/Denmark/England). As soon as I allied with the MFH, NEAT joined the crusade.
Haha, I never played such a great war campaign!
This enormous Alliance vs. Alliance war is really fun.
In 1243 after only 32 turns (0.5 tpy) every single nation is involved in this war.
Only few states are allied between two alliances (e.g. Sically is allied with both, Spain and MFH) and only one faction is kinda neutral - Milan is at war with everyone. xD
Good work @ King Kong and co. - SS rocks
