Curious. I'm allowing you to choose multiple options because some of us have more than 1 RS installation...

Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

I use Rome. If maybe someone can show me the advantages to the alex.exe. I might go out and buy it to use it.

ALEX is the best...playing as rome i can say carthage is more aggressive and smarter on the campaign map as well as the other factions and the enemy tries to outflank you more often on the battlefield..even the cavalry moves more swiftly and if your playing a Hellenic faction the phalanx stays in a tighter formation and doesn't disperse as much as it did in rome and BI where i had pikeman randomly getting lost from the rest of the unit ...just gotta fix the immortal trait which isnt too hard...and alex uses less memory on your comp when it loads and after exiting it recovers much faster

    Is there any disadvantages?

I'd try ALX, but 1) I am broke and 2) I don't want to put non-phalanx factions at a disadvantage, and it seems it might do that.

If you dont fix the immortal trait every family member in the game will live forever and it takes a bit of knowledge of coding to fix this trait and thats the only real disadvantage tryin to get it to work the first time cuz the exported txt files are made originally from excel so everything has to be placed perfectly

lol...yeah it can be a little frustrating especially trying to apply it to RS when reading from the EB tutorial on how to use alex.exe on their mod

I'm using BI but I'm seriously thinking about switching to Alx.
"So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopowner and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But, sure enough, I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show."

only if you don't own Alex tw already it doesn't drastically change the gameplay..but the AI does think faster and if you got a limited comp like me it does play faster and more stable...but also there are some advantages to BI as there are to Alex like in BI you can use shield wall and your soldiers can swim through rivers instead of just crossing by foot and Alx is said that it gets rid of the ghost bug issue but it still happens to me in RS anyway

Do you have a link that describes the process? Or can you describe the process briefly for us please?

I use BI, because I don't own ALX and so BI is the next best thing in terms of the AI.

You have to buy Alexander. If you want to play MP then you may need two copies as MP needs to have exactly the same files for all players.

It's a fairly easy change to make, honestly. Follow the usual rules of modifying files - take a copy of the original file first.

You only need to add the bits that are relevant to the immortal trait (or it's removal). Don't bother with the other bits in the posted link as they aren't relevant to RS - and they cause the game to CTD as soon as you launch a campaign!

Just to clarify then, three files would have to be modified by my count:
    Rome - Total War folder/eb/data/export_descr_character_traits.txt
    and
    Rome - Total War folder/eb/data/text/export_VnVs.txt
    and
    Rome - Total War folder/eb/data/export_descr_VnVs_enums.txt
but only for the Immortal trait stuff. Is that all right?
