Could some one show me where to edit the watchtowers on the stat map so that they all look like the roman ones, the other ones are ugly

i have Platinum mod on a BI install and im not sure where the file is.
    my guess is:
    data/descr_sm_ports_forts_watchtowers(text document)
however, when i go into this text and change all the culture's watchtowers to the roman one i go back into the the game and it does not do anything. Im not sure what im doing wrong.
I have Vista if its of any importance
So, if some one could give me a walkthrough or a link to one that would be great.

    save game compatible?

Did you save the file before completely reloading the game?
If you did: did you switch off the read-only box in the properties menu? Otherwise it won't overwrite.

Did you use this one "Activision/BI/Data/.../descr_sm_ports_forts_watchtowers.txt" or this one "Activision/Data/.../descr_sm_ports_forts_watchtowers.txt"?
I think you have to edit the second one in order to have it work, unles you use RTRPE mod switch. In that case it is something like "Activision/RTR_mod-switch_folder/Data/.../descr_sm_ports_forts_watchtowers.txt"

I hope I could help you

    Goodluck with it,
    PatricianS

ps Vista doesn't matter in this case
ps2 it should be save game compatible as the game completely reloads the graphics when you restart a game

It may be best to do the change and then launch a new campaign rather than continue with an existing one. Some files are only used at the start of a campaign rather than continually read.

It would have been better to post this in one of the modding threads.

    @PatricianS
    thanks PatricianS
yes, i do save it before reloading the game
thats the problem im not sure if its the BI/ one, or the Data/
oh, i just looked for the file in the BI/Data but it wasn't there.
what if i copy and pasted the text document from Data to the BI/Data, would that work
no i dont use the mod switch, just the regular RTRPE installed onto Rome Total War Gold w/ patch....1.6? Whatever, that doesn't matter; it's installed correctly.

wow i forgot to read the first thing you said, read only? I didn't know about that, I look into it.
If this works thanks in advance and thanks for helping.

nope it didn't work, turns out they weren't on read only.
I reloaded the game and started a carthage campaign, had a general build a watchtower but it was still the same
now the descr_sm_ports_forts_watchtowers document is in BI/Data and Data/ both having the roman watchtower set as the watchtower .CAS file
I looked through this document for a pretty long time and i dont know what else i could possible change.
    more replies plz.

In that case I wouldn't know :hmmm:

Maybe ask in one of the modding threads as Brusilov said, they will prbably have an answer.

Another thing you could try to do is replace the carthaginian .cas files for the roman ones, by simply rename the original carthaginian ones - copy the roman ones - and name the roman ones the same as the carthaginian ones where named - make sure you always have the original ones backed up!!

I only don't know where to find those .cas files...

Did you try deleting the map.rwm?

Is that needed for only changing some models? Didn't know that

yeah, i did it. I copied the Roman.CAS file two times and renamed one Barb and the other eastern, just like the original .CAS files, and it worked perfectly.
Thanks for the great idea PatricianS and thanks to everyone for helping.
