    Default Diplomacy mods

Is the a mod that JUST makes diplomacy more believable?
I'm annoyed at the AI that feels the need to backstab me when our relations are amiable and how it's pretty much impossible to keep your reputation better above dubious in 80 turns.
Even when I play a defensive game, without spies, assasins, sacking/exterminations and executions my reputation gets untrustworthy by turn 80 or 90.

If anyone could give me a link to a diplomacy mod that JUST fixes diplomacy (I get killed by the AI as it is, I don't want a crazy hard AI mod) I'd be very very happy.

    Hey,

I don't know about diplomacy mods, have you checked the mods section ?

If you aren't successfull in getting a mod, there's a few things you can do to increase rep.

Always occupy settlements after you siege them.

Always release prisoners after a battle, i have found the ransom option to have little to no effect on rep, and most of the time they will reject so you get to execute them anyway.

Make alliances from the start, preferably marriage alliances and give your allies florin's and map info as gifts now and then.

If you stick to this you should have [reliable] or [trustworthy] by turn 50.

I agree the diplomacy needs tweaking amongst other things, But it also makes the game more of a challenge. Hope you get it sorted out

I have checked the mods section but that all make the AI harder which is something that I really don't want, I have trouble with the AI already.

Thanks for the release prisoners tip, I thought that you gained a good rep even if they were executed off of your ransom.

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

    Hey,

No problem colin666, btw if your fighting someone like the mongol's and don't want to free like 300 men out of the 1000 you just beat in battle, just use the ransom option.

If you keep freeing them ''all the time'' it will take you a terribly long time just to defeat one full stack of mongol's. and using the ransom doesen't really have much of an impact on rep, so only release prisoners when you want to give your general's a chivalry boost.

I have to investigate more into what governs command increases though, and the best way to go about getting them.

Nearly every mod fixes this. For the bare minimum, try ultimate AI mod, or Sinhuets campaign and battle AI

If you want any sort of semblance to diplomacy, do not play at very hard campaign, maybe even hard campaign difficulty. Medium and you can actually get alliances. The more diplomatic interaction, the more you seem to gain reputation. Making alliances also seems to increase relations with time. Making alliances is just impossible on hard or very hard difficulty.

I reccomend hard actually. Medium makes it a bit too easy imho, but yes, very hard tends to stack the cards against you unreasonably.
