    Icon2 Help!

    hi all ive made a new unit in 3ds max textured it and rigged it when i add it to game i get to the costom battle selection when ive chosen my unit i click start and it loads up half way and then goes back to desktop




    this is what i put in export_descr_unit

    type spartan swordman

    You need to put the new unit in export_descr_buildings.txt too, if it is totally new unit?
    And I think you need all of this

    In your case

    model_flexi data/models_unit/spartan_swordman.cas, 15
    model_flexi data/models_unit/spartan_swordman.cas, 30
    model_flexi data/models_unit/spartan_swordman.cas, 40
    model_flexi data/models_unit/spartan_swordman.cas, max

    thanks for the help but it didden't work

    i think it might be the .cas file might be somthink i done wrong
    but i went back and cheaked like 6 times and i cant find anythink wrong

    If you have tried it in a custom battle and it crushed the error is either in EDU or in DMB. Presuming the graphic files are ok. In your case the DMB entry is kinda weird. For example you are missing the ownership for the texture. Why didn`t use one of the vanilla entries and edit that? It`s saffer.
    Also, add the -show_err command on the target of your desktop shortcut. It will most likely give you an error message that will help to solve issues like these.

    Did you make entries for the unit in export_units.txt?

    Your texture file- how many Kb has it? Which program you use for that?
    Need to have 341kb, dds. format - in photoshop (if you use this) you need to do this

    my texture file is 381 kb and i use photoshop

    It has nothing to do with the kb. That`s a generic error that the game usually gives when your texture is not in the required format. The format it needs to be is one of the folowing:
    256x256
    512x512
    It can be 128x128 too, but that`s obviously too small and only the strat map characters use that area.

    EDIT: also, make sure your texture`s name ends in .tga.dds even though when you save it in .dds format it will end without the .tga. In the DMB do not mention the .dds from the end or it will CTD(sometimes with no error at all).

    No kidding.... I wonder how you managed that. There has to be something wrong with the model and I can`t help you with that. First time I see a unit in game looking like in a 3dsmax render pose.

    You`d be surprised. I still have a dacian acher someone did in something like 345x365 format. Couldn`t find anyone to correct it. The very odd part is that the first time I`ve tried it it loaded fine in game. After that no such luck. In fact, iirc, riczu`s start map characters are also mapped in a wrong texture format.

    You've weighted all the vertex to the abs_bone, you need to read up on how to weight a model, and attach the equipment to the correct bones.

    Attaching the equipment you should be able to work out from this.

    Attach the shield to the left hand (or elbow), primary/secondary weapon to the right .. ect ect...
